Project Manager – Nuclear Decommissioning
DSRL – Thurso/Remote – GBP400 per day In–scope of IR35 (Umbrella) – Security clearance: SC – Contract length: 1 year
A vacancy has arisen for a Project Manager supporting the FCA–North programme within the Strategic Programme Directorate. The role spans project definition gates zero through two with a predominant focus on requirements and delivery strategy development, shaping deliverables and governance arrangements, and establishing transition arrangements to the Directorate responsible for implementation. This is a challenging role for which you will have, with the required support, the ability to steer future project delivery and influence successful implementation.
In this role you will:
Close liaison with stakeholder through problem definition and requirements development.
Evaluating established site procedures and liaising with Design Authority to ensure appropriate, and compliant, governance arrangements are in place aligned to contract deliverables.
Development of consultant scope of work and functional specifications for any procured design and/or development work related to the project.
Close liaison with procurement/commercial department in establishing a sub–contract strategy spanning works associated with definition development and that required for subsequent project implementation.
Supporting the delegated commercial lead in administration of the definition phase contract, leading regular contract performance reviews, responding to TQ's and EWN's, and being the single point of contact for the contract.
Developing a technical familiarity with the project and its challenges, liaising with stakeholders in the development of cohesive intelligent client guidance and TQ resolution throughout decommissioning plan development.
Liaising with DSRL Safety and Environmental leads through safety and environmental case development to ensure adequate intelligent client oversight is attained through decommissioning S&E case development.
Internal project performance reporting, producing monthly performance reports, working with PMO in updating and maintaining contract programme.
Leading project gate review preparation, production of project gate documentation, and representing the project at independent gate review.
Working closely with implementation project management in establishing a smooth transition into project implementation.
Essential experience:
Demonstrable project management experience within a nuclear/industrial/construction environment.
Demonstrable contract management experience – ideally NEC.
Previous nuclear decommissioning experience would be highly beneficial.
A technical understanding of the industrial/engineering environment.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Excellent core project management experience with planning and scheduling, resource management, cost management, risk management, etc.
Working Arrangements:
All positions offer flexible working with remote (home) working under the current COVID 19 restrictions. Post COVID arrangements will also include future home/remote working with visits to site or supply chain premises as necessitated by project needs.
Security Clearance:
All vacancies require candidates either holding current SC clearance or willing to go through vetting for SC clearance
