Head of Communications
Head of Communications
Location: Working from home initially during lockdown; Lapworth office on easing of restrictions
Salary: GBP38 – GBP45k, DOE (FTE)
Contract: Full Time or Part time, Permanent
Hours: Office hours are 8.30am – 5.30pm, with flexible working patterns possible
An exciting role to help shape innovation in social care. We need an experienced communications, PR and marketing manager to lead our product/service and corporate communications.
We are a niche technology business in the social care sector. Our Just Checking system is used by social services for assessment and care planning, enabling older people to stay at home for longer. Our newest system, Just Roaming, helps manage the care of adults with learning disabilities, in supported living – see our website for further information
We have nuanced messages for a wide range of target audiences: from directors of social services, commissioners and social workers to families and those who are being supported. It is not the technology that is important, it is what it does for people in extending their independence. These can be tricky messages to get across.
Head of Communications – The Role:
The role needs someone who 'gets' the social care world, and is able to work closely with our marketing director and customer facing teams to identify the key messages for our different target groups, and then proposes how best to communicate them.
Key Responsibilities:
Play an essential role in the plans to grow the company with responsibility to:
• Lead, develop and manage the business' communications, PR and media relations.
• Build our client base for the new line of business, Just Roaming.
• Develop, implement and evaluate communications and marketing plans, working closely with the marketing director, our account managers and our clients. You must really get to know our clients.
• Develop the Just Roaming brand; be a custodian of the Just Checking brand.
• Capture, build and present evidence of the benefits of Just Roaming in terms that are convincing for the different stakeholders.
Head of Communications – Candidate Specification:
You will have wide experience as a journalist, PR consultant or in a number of in–house communications roles for different organisations, working at a senior level.
You will have worked with other marketing professionals and understand that marketing is a business philosophy, not the brochures department – It is unlikely you will have the breadth of experience we seek if you have been working in communications/marketing for much less than 10 years.
Ideally with experience in B2G or health/social care, you must appreciate that the social care sector operates within legislative–driven frameworks. You are proactive, efficient and get the job done.
We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, emotionally intelligent and willing to get stuck into the world of social care.
Degree educated or equivalent, we expect to see how you have grasped opportunities to learn and progress, sought training, and built your career.
We're looking for a team member with an appetite for a role where you can make a real difference.
This could be a part time role for a highly experienced candidate who can direct others.
You must be able to:
• identify and articulate the key important messages for different target audiences
• write succinct, compelling copy which is relevant for the target audience, and for the selected medium. You are a master at investigating and then telling the story.
• demonstrate an aptitude for graphic layout and typography, and work with other disciplines to generate good supporting graphics.
• write a brief for external agencies or internal colleagues.
• construct and deliver compelling presentations, demonstrating an understanding of the balance between visuals and the spoken word.
• develop materials for the sales team and for training sessions.
• research and summarise a topic and demonstrate insight.
• construct and write a meaningful report.
• demonstrate very high standards of written English, grammar and punctuation, and know what it is to maintain editorial style.
• prioritise and manage high volumes of work.
• work to a high professional standard on your own, but also be good at collaborating with the directors and other members of staff who each bring their specialism to the team
Benefits:
Flexible work conditions: you will work at home, and at our offices in Lapworth, Warwickshire, when lockdown restrictions are eased.
The role could be part time for a highly experienced candidate.
Competitive Salary GBP38 – 45k pa, FTE
25 days holiday + Statutory days
