A West Midlands based local authority are looking for an Interim Project Manager within the Finance and Enabling Services Team.
The project is to upgrade Abacus a financial system to ensure that the system used for charging social care clients remains fit for purpose and in support with, the software provider. The system is used to collect c. GBP35m of income per annum and any system failure represents an unacceptable financial and service risk to the authority.
They are looking for someone dynamic who can drive the project forward and possessing the following key attributes:
Ability to plan for detailed implementation, allocating roles and responsibilities and managing stakeholders to deliver in accordance with that plan.
Ability to build relationships quickly – rapport building and listening skills are very important, and equally, so is the ability and willingness to challenge where appropriate.
Willingness to "get hands–on". The successful candidate will need to understand the detail of the project, not just sit above it and orchestrate, as they will need to be able to identify where there are risks and issues and propose appropriate resolutions or escalation.
Ability to see where this project impacts on other related pieces of work, and ensure that any such dependencies and implications are communicated and managed effectively.
Disciplined approach to reporting progress / performance to the Project Board, including benefits realisation and lessons learned.
This post is for 2.5 days per week and has an immediate start
