Senior Project Manager – Construction and Facilities

Would you like to join BAE Systems Real Estate Solutions delivering projects in a growing portfolio of facilities and building services projects? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Project Manager at our site in either Farnborough, Portsmouth–Broad Oak, or Westcott.

As Senior Project Manager you will work alongside our real estate and facilities teams and have overall responsibility for the planning and delivery of a portfolio of projects ensuring scope, plans, resources and budgets are aligned to deliver project success. The role covers the whole project lifecycle from initial inception and business case development, through the design and procurement process and onto the delivery and commissioning phase

Typically, these projects will be related to facilities and building services including maintenance, repair, refurbishment or construction projects. As such, knowledge of mechanical and electrical installations and building services would be advantageous.

This role is an exciting opportunity to imbed with RES and interact with a range of people and be part of a dynamic operating environment. It could also lead to future opportunities within the BAE Systems Business.

Travel will be required to other BAE Systems sites

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Project Manager will involve:

Leading the planning and implementation of medium to large scale projects, facilitating the definition of project scope, objectives and deliverables, ensuring technical feasibility

Management of the technical aspects of design, procurement, implementation and close–out of project activities

Establish and maintain effective working business relationships with project sponsors, stakeholders and team members. Function as a liaison between stakeholders and team members working through challenges and issues as they arise.

Assist the customer in defining project requirements, lead negotiations and coordinate client and supplier teams and set the overall project strategy and objectives

Assemble an effective project team and provide direction and support to the team to ensure successful delivery

Identify, track and mitigate project risk and realise opportunities to enhance project performance

Clearly communicate expectations, milestones, risks, status and changes in scope to team members, stakeholders and project sponsors.

Complete post–project evaluations to determine how well results were achieved and if adjustments to processes are needed

Support business winning and have the ability identify new opportunities and create compelling proposals and business cases.

Responsible for compliance with corporate governance and management of health & safety to the appropriate standards

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Experience of successful project delivery throughout the whole project lifecycle

Significant and varied working knowledge and experience of all Project Management competencies within facilities management, buildings services or construction sector

Ability to think logically and problem solve both in initial planning and as the need arises during the project life cycle

Formal project management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2 or similar

Experience and practical application of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations

Understanding of statutory requirements, current regulations and approved codes of practice relating to buildings and facilities

People management experience, preferably experience managing contractors

Excellent stakeholder management skills including influencing and negotiation

Good IT skills, proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with experience of Microsoft Project

Desirable:

Knowledge of building services including mechanical and / or electrical installations

SHE qualification e.g. IOSH or NEBOSH Construction Certificate

Knowledge and experience of commercial contracts

You will be a confident communicator who is self–motivated and able to take things through to completion independently. You will also have the ability to build good relationships with others demonstrating strong leadership skills.

Location: Farnborough, Portsmouth – Broad Oak, Westcott

Salary: GBP42,000 + Dependent on experience
