Development Manager required to join a fast growing onshore developer and help progress their impressive pipeline of over 1.5GW of wind and solar projects across Scotland and Wales.
The ideal candidate will bring experience project managing the development of onshore wind or solar projects. The role would suit an ambitious candidate with an entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to work with a progressive firm focussed on delivering sustainable projects and building trusted relationships with communities and landowners.
Role
Reporting to Development Director, manage the development of onshore wind and solar projects across Scotland and Wales from site selection through to post planning consent
Engage with and build trusted relationships with landowners, local communities, planning authorities, statutory consultees and other key stakeholders
Manage all project budgets and risks using appropriate tools and contracts
Work with commercial teams to maximise viability of each development site and demonstrate value optimisation and deliverability against identified project risks
Run tender processes and coordinate inputs from external consultants
Manage internal and external technical support in relation to project design, due diligence, access, wind resources assessment and grid connection strategies
Develop and implement an effective communications plan with support from the Community Relations Manager Requirements
Degree or Masters in relevant subject
Demonstrable experience developing onshore wind and/or solar projects through the planning process, ideally with a utility or developer
Sound understanding of the commercial, environmental and regulatory opportunities and challenges facing onshore wind/solar development and the wider industry
Good understanding of the planning system and EIA Regulations
Experience of the Appeals process and Public Inquiries would be an advantage
Successful in dealing with planning authorities, landowners, members of the public, project contractors, external consultants and development partners
Entrepreneurial and ambitious with ability to work independently and across multiple projects
