Our client is a multi–award–winning manufacturer of some of the world's most advanced prosthetic technology, bespoke seating solutions and orthotic devices
Purpose of the Role
Successfully and autonomously managing critical and complex new product development projects in compliance with the ISO13485. These projects will typically be characterised by significant ambiguity in success criteria and/or significantly challenging delivery parameters.
Strong technical background with good knowledge of medical device standards. Including an understanding of FDA, ISO1345, ISO14971 requirements for medical devices.
Successfully lead a cross–functional team, drive timelines and provide timely progress update on the deliverables.
Good knowledge of medical device standards and regulatory requirements. Including an understanding of FDA, ISO1345, ISO14971 requirements for medical devices.
Autonomously deliver projects using industry and Blatchford best practice, retaining senior stakeholder confidence and engagement throughout.
Adequately support & mentor other colleagues in the use of these approaches for other projects. A formal project qualification such as PMP, Prince2, APM is desirable.
Key Responsibilities and Activities
Project Selection & Scoping
Proactively identify & document detailed project requirements across the business
Facilitate the timely scoping of key projects to determine success criteria appropriately balance need for business consensus
Project Delivery
Provide periodic and accurate headline summaries for significant projects
and an accurate predication of project trend
Maintain a detailed schedule throughout the project of the delivery of key project milestones, working proactively to minimise delay against agreed project timelines
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with consistency and against tight timelines.
Identify project risks in a structured way and proactively mitigate them
Innovatively use internal and external resource to efficiently deliver business value to appropriate quality standards
Proactively manage project change with the appropriate use of suitable project management methodologies
Stakeholder Management
Dynamically adapt formal and informal communication strategy to stakeholders across business, ensuring every interaction balances business need with personal relationships.
Proactively anticipate senior stakeholder needs (even in their absence), and ensure timely, proportionate communication with relevant stakeholders
Project Management Process Improvement
Proactively identify and implement appropriate project delivery process improvements to the PMO.
Mentor other colleagues across the company on project management best practice
Keep abreast of industry best practice in project management techniques, applying to Blatchford as appropriate.

The post holder must be flexible in their approach, undertaking any other duties appropriate to the position, as necessary. Person Specification – Project Manager
Essential Skills/ Experience
Extensive hands–on Project Management experience, preferably supporting complex Medical Device delivery or from another regulated environment (e.g. Aerospace or Defence development, Life Sciences etc)
Experience in volume–manufactured solutions, preferably in the healthcare industry (experience in other regulated industries may be acceptable)
Knowledge of contemporary Project Management tools & techniques e.g. PMI (PMBOK), PRINCE 2, Critical Chain, Agile etc
Experience of defining complex multidisciplinary plans, implementing, and controlling
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 in a complex development environment
Sound understanding of risk management principles applied to the development of medical devices
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office packages
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Able to organise own workload and that of others.
Able to work flexibly and respond to tight deadlines.
Able to work simultaneously on multiple projects
Essential Qualifications
Degree Qualified or equivalent: BSc (Hons.) or BEng (Hons.) 2.1 or better, ideally in an engineering or related technical discipline
