Copello are working with a growing defence business who are looking to add a Business Development Manager to their team to work on existing and future commercial opportunities.

The Business Development function aims to increase opportunity and prospects for new business by networking and engaging at various levels of the Armed Forces and associated institutions and by offering solutions to planned projects / programmes both existing and forthcoming.

Working from home and with occasional travel the the Office on the South Coast, this will be a Business Development role with high levels of engagement as well as the incorporation of aspects of capture management and leading project teams in delivering winning proposals for key commercial opportunities.

Primary accountabilities of the role include:
– Work closely as part of a niche team, including the BD Director and senior management team, to implement and develop strategies for new business opportunities, aligning the business to each.
– Conduct and be part of the team negotiating commercial opportunities in alignment with the strategy established by the Business Development Director.
– Develop a plan for requirements capturing that takes in to account the perspective of the customer.
– Build and develop a pipeline of opportunities for the short, medium and long–term.
– Support the business growth strategy.
– Build long term [partnerships with potential customers.

Person specification:
– Ideally you will be someone with previous experience operating in the Armed Forces (preferably Navy or Air Force).
– Excellent networking skills within the Armed Forces and associated institutions.
– Operational, service delivery or sales experience within the Air Traffic Management industry.
– Degree qualified (or equivalent experience).
– Strategic and analytical / hunter style approach
