We are currently looking for a Finance Manager, Strategy & Development based in our offices in Solihull. This exciting and challenging role is a key member of the finance team and will play a lead role in maximising the value generated from Tarmac's investment and growth activities including M&A across all of Tarmac Group in the UK.

You'll be business partnering with the Strategy Director and senior management teams to lead and shape our growth strategy and deliver our organisational goals. Reporting into the Senior Finance Manager, Strategy & Development and National Commercial and supporting the Director of Finance, the role will drive improved decision making by managing the preparation, review and sign–off of the financial development case for Tarmac's 5 year strategic plan across all our UK operations. In addition you'll collaborate and support the business in the development, review and approval of high value development projects and managing a robust process to track M&A and major capital project performance including post project appraisal to drive delivery of value, learning and continuous improvement in processes and governance.

In addition, you will be the custodian of the provision of high quality financial models and modelling to support the decision making and delivery of key major capital, infrastructure and M&A projects as well as conducting complex analysis, appraisal and benchmarking to support and inform key strategic activities including Playbook reviews, Portfolio Reviews and delivery of RONA enhancement.

Main ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will be responsible for a number of tasks including:

Acting as the finance partner to the strategy team by providing financial expertise and modelling support to aid the delivery of strategy reviews, development projects and M&A transactions, as well as advising on relevant accounting application and deal structures.
Managing and coordinating the financial aspects of portfolio reviews for Tarmac, aligned with CRH group priorities and goals
Supporting business sponsors and project teams with due diligence and delivery on M&A transactions
Leading the production of financial performance and benchmarking information for portfolio reviews and strategic projects with a focus on KPIs and RONA enhancement
Leading the coordination and financial management of the development case in the annual Tarmac 5–year strategic plan and playing a key role in supporting delivery of the strategy
Implementing and managing a post–project review process, including tracking and challenging delivery of hard benefits against targets
Leading on the financial appraisal and modelling of all new Strategic and development projects, driving improved insight and challenge
Building and managing strong relationships with CRH Investment Appraisal and Group Accounting teams, in addition to Tarmac finance teams
Building effective internal relationships with FP&A and other finance teams to ensure a high degree of coordination on the Tarmac 5 year strategic plan
Managing key interactions with 3rd party and external advisers on transaction support services and deal execution.
Leading on best practice in development and investment, including coaching and mentoring of both finance and non–finance colleaguesThe Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have strong technical financial knowledge and must have a relevant accounting qualification such as ACA or ACCA and/or be qualified by substantial relevant work experience, with the ability to apply their specialist skill set to achieve desired outcomes. You must be in possession of proven experience in dealing with large development investments and/or M&A transactions, combined with a background in practice or corporate finance. It is essential that you have a proven track record of financial modelling and business planning. You will also be inquisitive and highly analytical by nature, with demonstrable experience of using insightful analysis and review to track and challenge performance.

Lastly, but by no means least you should be a confident communicator, able to engage, build effective relationships and influence across all levels of the organisation and experience of presenting to senior stakeholders.
