Programme Manager (Fibre Build)
Stoke on Trent Region
Package: GBP70,000 – GBP75,000 region & benefits
This is a great opportunity to work for a new telecoms company that are building FTTX / Fibre Networks across the UK, owning the network that delivers ultra fast connectivity.
We're looking for an experienced telecoms programme manager, that can point to a track record of being around build programmes in either fibre / FTTP or mobile networks, and you would own overall responsibility for the project region by way of planning, build and delivery.
The work is going to be business, residential and public buildings and as programme manager, you'll be both operational delivery lead and local authority relationship manager so in a nutshell, the main person for the programme area that is Stoke / Staffordshire.
This is a joint venture with the local council meaning the relationship is on the front foot and you would be working in partnership with the LA to deliver the infrastructure in the ground.
Early days for the company and for the right PM, this equals opportunity and a real chance to influence and determine how the model will be nationally. Staffordshire is the blueprint and will be replicated as to how this company plan, build and deploy networks across the UK so it's a real chance for a well–known face from around the telecoms industry to join and play a part in significant growth through 2020 and beyond.
Who are you?
We're looking for an experienced telecoms programme manager who can add planning, risk, strategy and forward thinking to the already strong delivery function. This is a role that needs someone who can come along and really make a difference by way of how the overall programme is delivered in the region. You'll be supported by civils supervisors, build managers, SHEQ and a PMO but it still needs to be someone who can think on their feet and play a part in both the implementation of process and a methodology that suits a rapid growth telecoms FTTX business.
It's busy, it's fluid and the targets to reach are testing to say the least but we need to put scalability in place and for the right PM, this fast moving environment and the chance to pretty much be the lead in how this is going to be, will be a real attraction.
It's a senior role so you need to be from the telecoms build industry and it's program management along with controlling time & quality cost on network build and it's a hit the ground running environment so not really the place for someone from outside the industry to move across and with the build project chugging along like a steam engine, it's that blend of know–how & assurance which equals the opportunity.
It's a NRSWA regulated environment so while you wouldn't strictly need the ticket at the moment, chances are you will have held it at some point in the past or certainly would have worked around projects within that kind of environment. Formal methodology is going to be assumed and while we won't point the finger at any one particular discipline, you'll likely be both versed and qualified in the main delivery methodologies and be able to point to project / programme value's in the multi–million pound range.
This is a permanent position working directly for the client and network owner and all things being well, could quickly progress in a role that carries national level responsibility as the future for the company is looking bright, with significant investment and further projects coming on line in Q1 2021 around the rest of the UK.
Staffordshire is the patch so you need to be within commuting range and it's a mix of being in the office and working from home – no problem with 2–3 days per week from home on an ad–hoc basis
