Head of Computer Science

The Client is an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Computer Science. The successful candidate should be innovative, hardworking and dedicated with ambition and talent and this would be an excellent opportunity to join a College recognised for its outstanding professional development. To be responsible for Computer Science provision across the college and to devise, implement and monitor the teaching and delivery of KS4 and 5. The ICT department achieves excellent outcomes at both GCSE and A' Level and the person appointed will teach across the age and ability range within modern state of the art buildings.

Key Tasks

Be well informed on and continue to implement the new GCSE and A Level specification in Computer Science
Report back on Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 Computer Science to the Head of ICT/Computing on a regular basis and write exam analyses.
Co–ordinate with the Head of ICT/Computing to ensure that intervention is taking place for pupils who are not meeting their targets, including providing opportunities for external input where required.
Support students in their university applications by providing opportunities for students to further study Computer Science outside of the core curriculum, including the Oxbridge entry assessments.
Support the Head of ICT/Computing in the recruitment of students through the organisation of open evenings and taster sessions.
Use data effectively to identify students who are underachieving in the subject and establish a system for effective targeting and monitoring within the Key Stage – share information with the Head of ICT/Computing and Leaders of Learning.
Undertake performance management where required.
Attend Middle Leaders meetings.
