Basic Salary GBP21,000
Monday to Friday, permanent position
My client is looking for a Head of Grounds Maintenance to manage and maintain an outdoor space on a permanent basis. There are other responsibilities too but the key thing we're looking for is someone with landscaping or gardening experience who is happy working outdoors but can also update a computer system with information and keep both written and online records. The Role:
* The position is working in a memorial garden and crematorium and you'll be ensuring that the grounds are well kept and managed at all times.
* Responsibilities can include rose bed maintenance, pruning, edging, planting, grass seeding and cutting. You would also carry out general grounds maintenance such as turf laying, creation of landscaped areas, site preparation etc
* You'll be responsible for allocated equipment and machinery to do the job and will need to carry out general maintenance and arrange servicing as and when needed.
* In addition, you'll be trained in other areas of the crematorium business to ensure a good all round understanding and the ability to support other areas and cover for absence. This includes general indoor preparation and maintenance of rooms and public areas, helping to direct the public and professionals around the site, you will from time to time be asked to help with pall bearing duties as part of a team and other general responsibilities within the crematorium.
* Part of the role also includes recording information on the IT system, handling enquiries from the public who may want to visit the site, and documenting and communicating the location of memorial locations and created remains to family members.
The Person:
* We're looking for someone who has gardening, landscaping or other horticultural experience and can work as part of a team and independently when needed.
* You'll need to be able to multi task as the role does have a lot of different areas involved and you need ton be able to adapt to different needs
* Good communication skills as you'll be speaking to the public, but also be comfortable with IT and logging information on a computer system.
* The key personality traits we need are someone who can be compassionate, respectful and feels comfortable working in this type of environment.
The Package:
* The basic salary is GBP21k based on 40 hours a week Monday to Friday
