Business Development Manager – Height Safety / Lifting / Commercial Marine
Flexible working but with expected visits to Head Office in Malvern
Position overview: The primary role of the BDM is to drive and develop the New Business sales element for various markets within the Industrial sales team, with an element of existing customer account management.
Person specification: The successful candidate will have previous technical sales experience, ideally within one of the key sectors – Height Safety, Lifting or Commercial Marine. They will be as comfortable with new business development as account management and be able to quickly develop relationships. Experience with overseas sales would also be beneficial.
Responsibilities:
* Identify and close new business opportunities within clearly defined marketplaces
* Generate your own leads through networking, direct mail, email, LinkedIn or any other suitable avenue.
* Meet with customers/clients face to face as well as over Zoom/MS Teams
* Understand the needs of your target customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these needs
* Think strategically – seeing the bigger picture, meeting goals and objectives to develop and improve the business
* Develop a solid understanding of English Braids' products to be able to advise others clearly and confidently about them
* Help to develop a marketing strategy alongside the Marketing Manager
* Liaise with all other departments within the organisation where appropriate
* Attend seminars, conferences, trade shows and networking events
* Maintain an accurate and effective sales pipeline
* Negotiate pricing with customers
* Carry out sales forecasts and analysis and present your findings to management
* Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world
Key skills/attributes:
* Experience of working within the Winching and/or Lifting, Height Safety or Marine markets
* Tenacity and drive to seek new business and exceed targets
* Well presented with a professional manner and well–presented appearance for when meeting clients face to face or representing the company at various events
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Good IT skills, including the use of MS Office and CRM systems
* Self–starter and highly motivated with the ability to set your own goals without the need to be closely managed
* Good organisational skills
* Excellent presentation skills
* The ability to think strategically
* The ability to analyse sales figures and write reports
* Initiative and the confidence to start things from scratch
* The ability to speak a foreign language would be beneficial but is not essential
