Invinity Energy Systems makes largescale Vanadium Redox Flow Battery (VRFB) energy storage systems that provide reliable and flexible energy supply solutions for both grid services and commercial and industrial (C&I) micro grids. Invinity is growing rapidly to meet the worldwide demand for energy storage.

The solutions engineering team here in Scotland collaborate with the product development team in Vancouver to deliver Invinity's battery energy storage solutions for customers across the world including South Australia and California, as well as exciting and innovative projects right here in the UK from Orkney to Oxford.

The Head of Systems Engineering is a newly created senior role responsible for driving the overall systems engineering design for our complex megawatt–scale energy storage systems and integration at our clients' sites and providing technical leadership to the Systems Engineering team. To do this, you'll need to have the right combination of technical knowledge, leadership and people skills.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

Directing, supporting, and guiding our Engineers day–to–day
Creating workforce plans and ensuring efficient execution of engineering plans
Leading the system definition of the generic solutions offered to all Invinity customers, detailing system solutions design specifications, selecting critical equipment such as inverters and transformers
Supporting the Invinity Systems Project teams in implementing the generic system detailed design to customer projects, including site layout, foundation requirements, power distribution systems, control and monitoring network, safety system
Overseeing the sharing and storing of documentation through use of a PDM system
Helping drive implementation of ISO 9001
Identifying new processes/equipment and developing acceptance criteria for existing and new manufacturing processes/equipment
Supporting Systems Architecture and Commercial teams with the design of tendersThe key experiences and skills we are looking for are:

Excellent engineering systems design experience from within renewables, Wind, Solar, Battery Storage, EV Charging, power distribution networks, or similar
A background in the development and integration of complex power plant solutions
An undergraduate college or university degree in Electrical / Electromechanical Engineering
Hands–on experience of CAD design methodologies, product documentation management (PDM) and product configuration management
Experience managing Mechanical, Electrical and/or Software engineering teams
Ability to foster a positive, supportive, collaborative, motivated close–knit team and deliver quality results safely, on–time and to budgetYour computer skills will also include most of the following:

Good working knowledge of MS Project or equivalent
Basic understanding of PLM systems
Good working knowledge of ERP systems and Data control
Good working knowledge of 3D CAD Systems and PDM preferably SolidworksKnowledge of CE certification for energy generation and storage machines is an advantage, as is knowledge of ISO 9001 and lean management expertise.

Above all you'll be an engineer at heart – technically inquisitive, someone who is obsessed by "making things work" and solving the tough and complex engineering problems (even if that means learning the stuff you don't know).
