Global Head of Employment Tax

An exciting new opportunity for an experienced Tax Director to join a Global FTSE 100 organisation where will be responsible for the overall employment tax strategy and designing the employment tax governance framework. This is a high-profile role with direct engagement across leadership in different markets and responsibility for delivering results in an increasingly complex employment tax agenda.

Role Overview

  • Design and embed the Group’s employment tax governance framework forming a key part of, and aligned to, the overall tax strategy and principles.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to review all relevant end to end processes and policies from an employment tax perspective.
  • As a subject matter expert, partnering with the business to ensure employment tax considerations are made to relevant internal projects, policy changes and transformational activity.
  • Alongside the Group Tax Director and forming part of the senior management team, be a point of contact and manage the relationship with HMRC to proactively address any questions and cyclical risk reviews in relation to employment taxes.
  • Work closely and build strong relationships with local country teams and various external third-party advisors to ensure that necessary employer reporting obligations for employment taxes are met in compliance with the relevant local requirements.
  • Ensuring any changes to legislation or guidance in the employment tax arena are considered.
Requirements

  • Ability to quickly build strong trusted relationships across many internal stakeholders.
  • Professional approach and confident in managing external third-party providers and tax authorities.
  • Be comfortable in operating autonomously and being proactive in doing so, to drive the transformational change and design the employment tax strategy and agenda both in the short and medium term, whilst keeping stakeholders informed and updated on progress and the current agenda and objectives, as appropriate.
  • A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in employment taxes and the issues faced by multi-national organisations including their internationally mobile employees.
  • Experience of working in a matrix organisation and a commercial environment will be essential.
  • University degree and be Tax qualified (CTA or ATT).
