After the Covid period, the successful candidate will work from our London office in EC2

UKSIF is the membership organisation connecting the UK sustainable investment and finance community, committed to growing sustainable and responsible finance in the UK. Our vision is a fair, inclusive and sustainable financial system that works for the benefit of society and the environment.

UKSIF was founded in 1991 and now has 240+ members and affiliates, including financial advisers, fund managers, pension funds, banks, research providers, consultants and NGOs. Our diverse membership includes NatWest, the London Stock Exchange Group, Aviva, Schroders, NEST and Oxfam, among others.

Events are a key component of UKSIF's membership offering, providing opportunities to share knowledge with our members, connect the sector, and influence government policy. UKSIF is now seeking a Head of Events to drive forward our enhanced and expanded events programme in 2021 and beyond.

Working with the UKSIF staff team and members, you will lead the development and delivery of a vibrant events programme which will support the drive to a more sustainable finance system and help deliver UKSIF's mission.

An experienced events manager, you will lead the planning, organisation and delivery of 25+ events in 2021. These range from UKSIF's flagship events, including an annual London Conference, Edinburgh Conference and Good Money Week, to webinars, short seminars, roundtables and lectures. You will co–ordinate venues, agendas, speakers, sponsors, logistics and on–the–day management. You will also line manage our Events and Communications Manager (who also spends 50% of their time supporting UKSIF's Membership Services and Business Development Manager on member communications).

You will also help support the delivery of UKSIF's wider work programme and ambitious future plans. This includes co–leading the development of UKSIF's website, updating online content, social media, membership communications and 30th anniversary activities.

During the Covid–19 period, UKSIF events have moved online. This will continue for the foreseeable future, after which we intend for in–person events to return. It is anticipated that future in–person events will also have the option for delegates to join remotely.

This is an exciting and influential full–time, permanent position, suited to a candidate with a strong track record of successful online and in–person events delivery and management, and a passion for driving positive change on sustainability and social issues.

Key Responsibilities

The Head of Events will lead, from start to finish, UKSIF's ambitious events programme. In 2021, this is planned to include the following:

– 3 major conferences, including our flagship annual conferences in London and Edinburgh
– Good Money Week
– 12+ webinars / knowledge sharing seminars
– 3+ political lectures
– 6 member roundtables
– 6 networking events (Covid dependent)

Most in–person events will take place in London, however one conference is expected to take place in Edinburgh, and at least two networking events will take place outside London (likely Edinburgh and Bristol) – Covid dependent. Occasional travel and overnight stays (approx. 5 nights per year) are to be expected.

The Head of Events will be responsible for the overall co–ordination and delivery of the events plan, determining venues and logistics, co–ordinating registration, preparing briefings and delivering post–event analysis, as well as working with the rest of the UKSIF team and UKSIF's Analyst Committee to develop agendas and co–ordinate speaker invitations.

UKSIF events rely on the quality of their content, rather than large budgets to make an impact. Therefore, the core deliverable is high–quality content, well–planned agendas and seamless delivery.

UKSIF is a small team where all team members contribute to the overall delivery of the organisation's goals. The Head of Events will be expected to support other team members during key periods and can rely on the support of the wider team during major events delivery and planning and other busy periods. Regular additional responsibilities include co–leading the development of UKSIF's website and social media as well as supporting membership communications.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have many of these attributes:

Very important

– A passion for UKSIF's mission of action to advance sustainability and key social issues
– Experience in events management and delivery from a strategic, operational and logistical perspective, ideally in a not–for–profit / membership organisation environment
– Experience in preparing and then delivering an annual events plan
– Experience delivering successful high–profile conferences for senior stakeholders
– Ability to work on multiple events simultaneously to deliver the events plan
– Particular experience in delivery of online/Zoom events
– A fast and accurate working style, excellent written and verbal communication skills
– Well organised with great judgement and excellent attention to detail
