Assistant Director – Housing Services
Location: Birkenhead
Salary: GBP71,687 per annum
Hours of Work: 37 hours per week
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an inspirational housing professional to lead our housing teams. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Customer Experience, the Assistant Director, Housing Services will shape a wide range of housing activities into a modern, collaborative, seamless and customer focussed service. You will help deliver organisational cultural change by inspiring and motivating key partners and colleagues to deliver our vision, values and strategic objectives, the Magenta Way.
This role is on a permanent basis working 37 hours per week, based in our modern head office in Birkenhead, Wirral. The office is easily accessible from most transport links with just a short walk from Hamilton Square train station and local bus routes. Free parking is provided to staff either on site or nearby.
Assistant Director Responsibilities:
You will build on and develop the strategic vision for housing services and drive through the fundamental changes required to meet the standards set out in the Social Housing White Paper.
You will motivate, manage and ensure the professional development of the Heads of Service responsible for the day to day management of the:
Allocations and Lettings Team
Neighbourhood Management including Tenancy Enforcement
Environmental Services Team
Income Team
Specialist Housing Team including Partnerships, Independent Living and Supported Housing, Tenancy Sustainability and Assessment, Safeguarding, Adaptations
This is an excellent opportunity to develop our housing service as these teams have previously reported to multiple Assistant Directors. As such, you will be able to develop the future blue print for the service and ensure we deliver customer focussed services that represent value for money.
Assistant Director Requirements:
Educated to degree level preferably in housing, social care or a similar discipline
Strong understanding of the requirements of "supporting people" with experience of general needs and/or supported housing services
Display experience of highly effective people and resource management, including experience of managing multi–site and mobile staff (Essential)
Able to drive and have access to your own vehicle
Work flexibly including evenings and occasional travel to national events
