Sue Ross Legal are working with a government organisation for the recruitment of a Housing Lawyer on a 6 month Locum basis. You will be joining their welcoming team and duties will include;

* Providing legal advice, representation and support on all aspects of corporate governance and local government law in relation to Housing Act 1985, Housing Act 1996, Local Government and Housing Act 1989

* Drafting legal documents including statements, reports, pleadings, court and tribunal orders, Instructions to Counsel and settlement agreements

* Providing legal advice, representation and support in defending judicial review and all other civil proceedings

* Advising and assisting with the preparation of reports

Our client is ideally looking for someone who is available on a full time basis, however they will also consider candidates looking for part time work with a minimum of 3 days. The role is to start in January and will run for a period of 6 months.

To be considered for this role you should be a Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive. It is essential that you have public sector housing and homelessness experience including familiarity with Housing Act 1985 especially Parts 2, 4 and 5, Housing Act 1996 Parts 6 and 7 and possibly 4, Local Government and Housing Act 1989 Part 6 (HRA) as a minimum, with an understanding of the organisation's role as local housing authority rather than simply as a landlord dealing with individual tenants or applicants
