This challenging and exciting opportunity (based at home) requires a senior level commercial professional from within any area of the power, metering, energy, smart energy, telecoms or digital services sectors, from either a products or services background, coupled with possessing a proven and demonstrable track record in taking the overall lead for commercial negotiations and pre–contract strategy operations.

Our client is one of the world leaders in the power and energy industry. The Energy Management & Grid Division offers a broad spectrum of solutions, primarily focusing upon sustainable, renewable and smart technologies. Its service offering includes products, systems and solutions for smart grids, metering, energy efficiency, energy demand data capture and interpretation, energy usage and energy security.

Due to the bid for a significant long term contract framework programme (cGBP200m), coupled with an ongoing commitment to their continued and diverse growth plans at the leading edge of smart technology, our client is now seeking to appoint a Commercial Manager / Director on an interim basis. The successful candidate will take the direct and total responsibility and accountability for leading the negotiation, agreement and delivery of our client's proposal, from a commercial perspective, which will incorporate delivering all associated risk, opportunity, revenue, contribution, margin and cash expectations.

The Role

* Engagement with all internal and external stakeholders to negotiate and deliver a compelling commercial proposition based on managed applications, services, products and service lines

* Creation and delivery of high–quality commercial business and programme plans and strategies to underpin, guide and support the ongoing evolution of the contract, and demonstrate healthy returns on any associated investment requirements

* Pro–active management of the contractual engagement with internal teams and all supply partners, and achievement of all approved revenue, contribution, margin and cash targets

* Line management, leadership, motivation and direction of the management team to deliver highly effective business management, product lifecycle management and customer management functions

* Establishment of a comprehensive MI framework / dashboard to enable effective monitoring of actual business performance and trends against relevant plans to facilitate appropriately informed decision making

* Close collaboration with operational counterparts / colleagues to ensure that all delivery towers have the necessary capacity, skill and operational capability to deliver expected products and services at a competitive cost

* Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with the client, through the creation of alternative cost–efficient financial propositions, innovation in added value services and a clear demonstration of innovation in your strategy to ultimately enhance successful outcomes for all parties

* Proven ability to manage multi–million pound P&L client accounts, and consistently achieve expected year on year revenue, margin and underlying ROI targets

* Industry domain expertise, with a clear understanding of relevant market dynamics, client business drivers, competitive landscapes and associated regulatory requirements

* Thorough appreciation of the related business development opportunities

* Proven experience of motivating and managing specialist personnel to achieve clearly defined service delivery targets

* Ability to coach and mentor highly skilled individuals to maximise productivity

* Ability to build strong collaborative networks across large organisations, and with external clients, partners and suppliers
