I am working with a Public Sector organisation based in Leeds who are looking for an experienced Head of Finance or Deputy Financial Controller for 2–3 months, working from home.

The role is full time (home based), to start ASAP and paying up to GBP382.97 Umbrella per day. The role is in scope of IR35.

Minimum Candidate Requirements:

Experience of accounting for fixed assets (experience with software assets would be desirable)
Income recognition – accounting for services experience
Experience preparing accounts to IFRS standards
NHS experience / public sector would be idealThis role is a key leadership role in the Financial Control & Operations team, with particular responsibility for Fixed Assets, Income, statutory accounts and audit.

The role will manage the Fixed Assets team, supporting the experienced team of three staff during a particularly busy and complex year capital expenditure is expected to be in excess of GBP100m, building on the GBP200m of assets already held.

The organisation primarily builds large complex IT systems to support the health and care system, using a mix of in–house and external resources.

The role will provide oversight and management support to the Fixed Asset team, advising and resolving issues, ensuring completeness of asset reviews and robust reconciliations, and that all audit recommendations have been implemented.

What skills, qualifications and knowledge are needed for this role:

CIMA or CCAB qualified (essential)
Extensive experience of the preparation of statutory accounts, preferably in the public or third sector, to IFRS standards
Extensive experience of the accounting, valuation, control and evidencing existence of complex fixed assets
Extensive experience of managing and accounting for receivables, particularly under IFRS 15
Extensive experience of successfully leading teams/work areas through rigorous internal/external audits
Extensive experience of reconciliations, working papers and other evidence required to support the financial statements and audit
Extensive experience of building and developing strong relationships across Finance and the wider organisation
Extensive experience of proposing/implementing resolutions to technical financial accounting issues, and creation/review of procedures and policies
Exceptional Excel, data analysis, reporting and reconciliation skills
