On Line People Limited are currently looking for a Head of Engineering to work for one of our major based in Leeds. This is a permanent vacancy working 37 hours per week.

The Role: –

An opportunity has arisen for us to recruit a Head of Engineering. The role will work with the asset/business unit engineering and operational leads and will create value to the business through the introduction of innovative ways of working and through challenging asset teams to improve business performance. The successful candidate will need to understand the commercial drivers for the Group in order to develop appropriate engineering strategies that optimise business performance.

The role will be based at the Yorkshire Office but will consist of travelling to all other UK locations on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities: –

Reporting to the Head of Gas Operations, the key responsibilities and duties will include: –

* Ensuring asset/business unit specific engineering activities are appropriate to enable assets to operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with all relevant legislation

* Setting appropriate engineering standards across the group, working with the assets to ensure that they are implemented appropriately

* Ensuring asset specific engineering strategies are in place which economically maximise the value of each asset taking account of unit economic lives and asset specific market conditions. Continuously review these strategies to reflect changing risk profile and/or market conditions

* Identifying and rolling out best practice across the Group for all areas of engineering and maintenance, including: criticality and reliability, risk management, outage management, etc

* Implementing and developing an efficient engineering organisation suitable for a matrix type group, which leverages the skills and experience of the asset–based engineering teams to service the wider fleet

* Standardising and optimising working practices through effective leadership, support and, where required, ensuring compliance to Group policy

* Providing in–depth technical support to the assets

* Ensuring that any new legislation that affects engineering strategy is reviewed, interpreted and implemented in an appropriate manner. This will include the attendance at industry working groups (e.g. GENSIP, Energy UK) to influence new guidance as appropriate for the business

* Managing the activities of the central engineering team, ensuring a process of continual improvement to plant availability and a reduction in maintenance costs

The Ideal Candidate: –

Background:

* Significant experience of engineering management in the thermal power generation industry, including PSSR (including the Technical Review process), Process Safety and Obsolescence management.

* Significant experience in an appropriate Technical or Engineering discipline

* Substantial knowledge and experience of the technical, operational and commercial management of thermal power stations

* Working knowledge of power industry safety organisations such as GENSIP and Energy UK

* Experience of managing large scale, long term contractual support arrangements, particularly those with OEMs

* Understanding of business financial drivers with the ability to understand financial metrics and information

* Experience of liaising with contractors, suppliers and operational managers within a business

* Contract and budget management

Qualifications:

* Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (preferably mechanical or electrical engineering)

* Chartered / Incorporated Engineer status

* Membership of an appropriate professional institution
