Director of Practice
London
Salary 65–70 k
Are you a dynamic and determined leader who will not give up until you succeed ? We want you to join us at Whatever It Takes to change the world for young people caught in the destructive cycle of crime and associated behaviours.
This is the job that reminds you of why you went into this work – to end the harm and pain of being trapped in repeated criminality and change the focus from one of difficulty to one of aspiration and hope.
The Director of Practice will:
- Work closely with the Chief Executive to deliver the pilot WIT programmes, build the central WIT organisation, and embed a culture that will help to achieve our vision.
- Build the WIT teams, deliver training and support, quality assure the roll out of WIT programmes and work closely with partner local authorities to ensure that the pilots are a success.
- Relish the start–up environment and drive WIT's vision through an intelligently crafted and skilfully enacted programme which you will develop and evaluate, disseminating best–practice.
You will bring the following attributes to this highly fulfilling role:
- Significant experience of the youth criminal justice system as a practitioner and manager with a thorough understanding of its benefits and limitations and detailed knowledge of its agencies, systems and policies.
- You will have worked with children and young people in high risk and complex settings and led teams in these settings to bring about impressive results.
- Frustrated by aspects of the current system, you will have experience of developing new or emerging intervention programmes that includes managing the ambiguity inevitably involved in such an ambitious project as this.
WIT recognises the destructive cycle of children and young people committing crimes disproportionately impacts BAME communities. Therefore, we are especially interested in hearing from applicants who are Black, Asian or from a minority ethnic background for all WIT roles to help us ensure our delivery reflects the lives of the children and young people we are seeking to support
