Due to continued growth and an ambitious expansion plan our client now wishes to appoint a Project Manager. This challenging and exciting opportunity, based from the South Yorkshire offices, requires an individual who is looking to take responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple ground improvement and stabilisation projects within the company's operations. The successful candidate will ideally be a qualified Engineer with a minimum of three to five years' experience in this arena, and possess expertise in leading similar projects across all sectors. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing projects throughout the UK covering a wide variety of applications. You will be working in in a fast–paced environment, which requires an individual who thrives under pressure and operates in a structured and highly organised fashion. You will possess a general understanding of geotechnical engineering and ground improvement or stabilisation concepts, and be able to demonstrate achievement within any of these given areas.
The Role
* Provide operational and site assistance and leadership for all assigned projects and contracts
* Responsible for all aspects of planning, site supervision, report writing and programming of ground improvement and stabilisation, and geotechnical engineering projects
* Analyse project specifications to accurately plan site activities to ensure safe, profitable and timely delivery of works, including the appropriate use of required labour, plant, materials and resources
* Provide technical advice and assistance to operational teams
* Assist in the preparation of engineering reports and technical documentation
* Provide technical support and attend work winning interviews with clients
* Ensure that you play an active role in keeping the team appropriately motivated to deliver quality for the business across all key responsibility areas
* Plan and manage the implementation of contract works in a safe manner, and in accordance with company–wide and project–specific health, safety and environmental documentation
* Develop project plans, gain the necessary approvals and subsequently manage contracts in accordance with these plans, thus providing safe and cost efficient services
* Provide Site Managers with appropriate targets in terms of work outputs and deadlines, based on the work programmes
* Actively monitor outputs achieved and provide timely feedback of information to the Operations Manager
* Proactively work to improve productivity without compromising safety or quality
* Ensure timely completion of all site tasks and documentation detailed in the project briefing checklist
* Assist in the development and implementation of ISO accreditations
The Person
* A relevant degree (ideally not essentially) coupled with demonstrable experience working for recognised geotechnical or ground engineering companies will be attractive
* You will possess experience of a wide variety of schemes and projects, including geotechnical and ground engineering works packages
* Able to demonstrate sound commercial acumen, and with the ability to delegate responsibility as necessary
* Offer successful client management and liaison techniques
* Excellent time management skills, being able to effectively prioritise and delegate against challenging deadlines
* Open to new ideas, not set in your ways, with an ability to think laterally
* Ensuring maximisation of financial return, whilst maintaining and developing relationships via service levels and quality of the tender management process
* Clear written, verbal, presentation, organisation and communication skills
* High attention to detail
* The ability to work on your own initiative, as well as in a team environment
