An excellent opportunity for an established Operations Director to lead and contribute to Cardiff site and group growth.

Client Details

My client are an established British manufacturing group who have invested heavily over the last 2 years and are now looking for an Operations Director based in Cardiff who can contribute to the site growth through leadership and instilling values.

Description

Key responsibilities:

Deliver on the corporate objectives. – Safety, Quality, Service, Delivery, Cost, People
Control and report on any variance of defined costs in line with an agreed budget
Lead cost reduction and waste elimination initiatives in the operations process.
Produce relevant reports and KPIs & communicate performance to all staff within your business area
Organise and maintain efficient and trained staff at a level required to meet customer demand and improve our business
Create and maintain a working environment conducive to teamwork, goal setting and goal getting
Control stock to agreed levels. Ensure products are delivered on time and in full once commitment is given to customers
Operate a safe working environment in line with company policies & procedures. Any H&S issues raised must be a top priority in terms of investigation, closure, and fixes
Develop key members of staff, utilising both ability and potential. Liaise with the Personnel Department to ensure effective standards of discipline are maintained. Use existing performance appraisal documentation & processes
Promote product and customer awareness among manufacturing, design, and contracts staff in line with a methodology of continuous improvement and supportive of the company QA/QC policies & procedures. Assist with all relevant QC issuesProfile

In order to be considered as Operations Director you will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience.

Ideally degree qualified or apprentice trained in an engineering discipline
You will need to demonstrate a track record of leading change and contributing to growth in a director capacity
Delivering results by working with and across multiple departments is essential
Successfully manage multiple projects/tasks and deliver on customer deadlines is essential
General technical & engineering background and able to deal effectively and confidently with customer & manufacturing problems and queries would be desirable
Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
Good level of understanding of fabrication & welding is desirable
Strong organisational and decision–making skills is essential
Understanding of profit & loss, balance sheet & cash flow models is essential
