This includes developing and delivering strategic and operational people initiatives in employee engagement, customer service, quality, cost and the delivery of overall business performance.

Integral to making a positive and lasting impact on our business, you will be part of a strong team of People Business Partners with a remit to drive business performance through our people agenda and strategic change.

Reporting to the Head of Leadership Partnering you will support the company during a period of substantial growth, business and cultural transformation, requiring a strong focus on leadership change management, organisational development and employee engagement.

The role requires an overarching knowledge and perspective of the business, with the ability to successfully navigate the organisation and engage and partner with multiple stakeholders to meet the needs of the business. You will be capable and confident in decision making and developments across multiple projects and initiatives.

You will help convert the People strategy into tangible plans, supporting the business to achieve its Purpose and Vision, including outstanding levels of customer service, employee engagement and shareholder value, making this the best place our people have ever worked.

A highly practical professional you will be comfortable delivering high level business planning at pace, be people oriented, have a commercially minded approach and the ability to get to the heart of an issue through listening, questioning and challenging.

With limited downward delegation opportunities, on a day to day level you will be working in a 'stand–alone' capacity and be easy with and willing to operate at whatever level is necessary to deliver in your role, easily switching between the operational and the strategic aspects of the role.

Key Accountabilities

Collaborative & Connected

Understanding the business context and strategy, you will be visible and connected, developing trusting and influential relationships with senior leaders, having the confidence and strength to constructively challenge their thinking and ways of working by bringing commercial and people insight
You will act as a coach, trusted advisor, and knowledge expert, and demonstrate sound judgement across all areas of the employee life cycle. Your ability to influence a broad level of roles in our business across multiple functions will be second to none
As the conduit between the centres of expertise across the broader People Function (L&D, Reward, Pensions, and People Support Team) and our partners in the business functions, you will collaborate on initiatives that transform our business
You will act as a mentor to the People Support Team and work together to own your business area(s) as a team

Leadership & Talent

You will support development and implementation of the leadership agenda that concentrates on the on–going development of leaders, continuously building capability to support them in achieving success through their people, based on a philosophy of adult to adult, human relationships
You will contribute to succession planning and talent mapping to ensure your business area are thinking ahead and creating flexible plans, including a drive for cost effective recruitment that supports healthy retention

Change Management & Organisational Design

Supporting transformational activity through a strong change management approach, you will ensure the way that our people change is delivered, is consistently aligned with our values, engages our people in creating and living positive change, and creates an inclusive culture where people can thrive
You will make good use of your broad and deep business/technical knowledge and/or experience, to identify patterns and root causes so to contribute to building strategic plans and anticipate business opportunities and risks so to deliver cross–functional results

Data Insights & Digital Working

Understanding the digital environment, you will know how to apply technology in a people context.
Uphold data integrity by working closely with your partners to ensure the data base source(s) are maintained
You will use people analytics to create insight and measure value.
Determining areas requiring action, you will recommend proactive solutions on such areas as attrition, attendance management, performance management, employee engagement, and resourcing

People Practices

Working with the Head of People Experience and other key stakeholders, you will work towards increasing employee engagement levels
You will be the expert in areas such as performance management, absence management and employee relations
Identifying areas of improvement, you will implement changes which improve efficiency and service offering as well as reducing cost

What is the scale of this role?

The People Business Partner does not have any direct reports but will partner with Senior Leader(s) with headcounts of circa 50–400 people.
