Technical Director / Principal Engineer / Scientist – Ships

My client is looking to recruit a Technical Director / Principal Engineer / Scientist to help lead their growing ship navigation and mooring related work. The successful candidate will join the Ships and Dredging Group and take a prominent role in consultancy and research work. This will involve leading ship navigation simulation studies, that often use state of the art ship and tug simulators, and ship mooring studies that may use some of their extensive physical modelling facilities or numerical models. The role will require excellent communication and client liaison skills, underpinned by a strong technical background in ship navigation, ship mooring and port operations/logistics. The role will also provide the opportunity for innovative research and development to support this growing business area.

The successful candidate will have:
A good engineering or scientific degree
A good level of relevant professional experience and /or a higher degree in a relevant subject
Experience of ship navigation and ship mooring project work and delivery
A working knowledge of relevant national and international clients
A track record of procuring and winning relevant work
An interest in leading research and development in a relevant area
An ability to work collaboratively with multi–disciplinary teams
Excellent inter–personal and client liaison skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
The successful candidate will be based at their offices in Oxfordshire, UK, but there will be opportunities for international travel and working overseas
