Jewson are part of Saint–Gobain – Winners of 'TOP EMPLOYER UK AND GLOBAL' five years running! (Apply online only))
Jewson are extremely proud to announce that we are working hard to build upon and grow our leading Timber expertise with this exciting national recruitment campaign, creating over 50 new roles within the business!
At Jewson, we take timber seriously. We pride ourselves on offering high–quality, sustainably sourced timber. Our range includes MDF sheets, plywood sheets and timber cladding. Plus, bespoke solutions for any project. We are committed to responsible timber procurement. Since our beginnings in 1836, timber has played a huge part in our growth and success.
As part of our business strategy for the coming year, we at Jewson are looking to appoint a specialist Timber Business Development Manager to work in each of our regional Business Units
A typical Jewson Business Unit has around 80–120 colleagues, including sales and operational teams, supporting circa 2000 live customer accounts from multiple branch locations. Each business unit will have a Specialist Timber Business Development Manager supported by a specialist Timber Branch.
The role will be field–based and supporting the specialist branch that will showcase all of the timber product range. You will be expected to travel across your given region to visit new and existing customers, and to provide expertise and support to the other branches within the unit.
This particular role will be working across the Montrose (Angus) Business Unit.
What does the position entail?
It will be the role of the Timber Business Development Manager to work in partnership across the business unit to deliver profitable sales and margin growth for timber, panel and related products to both new and existing customers. Here we expect you to;
Build effective relationships with all branch and sales colleagues across the Business Unit, to identify, maximise and develop business
To drive the full offer, expertise and services of the Timber Specialist Branch, and to have input into the required stock profile, support preferred buying deals, whilst at the same time maximising the best deals available for the Business Unit
Manage the supply and demand of timber taking in to account upcoming opportunities and market factors, including stock levels, transferring stock across sites for sale purposes, and building relationships with key suppliers
Develop trusting relationships both internally and externally in order to deliver 'customer first' solutions every time
We would love to hear from you if you can demonstrate the following skills and experience:
In order to hit the ground running and understand our market and customers, you will have experience within timber. If you have experience from a building materials or construction industry with a basic knowledge and interest with timber, then this could also be for you
You will have proven sales experience gained within either an external or internal capacity, and will enjoy building long–term customer relationships
You will be organised so that you can not only manage yourself, but your time and the stock requirements for the Unit
You will have the passion and drive to succeed and grow business for your area, yet do well by your customers
Strong commercial acumen and business understanding
