Vale of Aylesbury Housing is a 'not–for–profit' Registered Provider of affordable housing for over 17,000 people living and working in Aylesbury and the surrounding villages of the Vale.

We are one of the area's leading affordable housing providers. We own and are responsible for over 7,500 homes, 16 supported housing schemes, 129 shared ownership properties and over 1,500 garages that are let to the public. We also own a number of commercial units located in the Vale.

With a growing portfolio of properties that covers over 350 square miles of Aylesbury Vale and neighbouring districts, an annual turnover of over GBP45 million, and more than 270 employees; we aim to make a significant social and economic contribution to our communities within the Vale of Aylesbury and beyond.

Our two recently formed subsidiaries will enable us to develop housing for market sale whilst also increasing our existing affordable housing programme. We are a dynamic organisation seeking to provide over 1000 new homes by 2025 while also increasing flexibility with the way we work and improving our environmental impact.

The Role:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance and Resources, you will be responsible for the development, implementation and effective management of the Group's financial services. As such you will be a key professional, leading the finance team and ensuring strong financial control with delivery of effective and efficient financial accounting, management accounting, day to day cash management and transaction processing for all the Group companies. This includes the delivery of the annual budget process, the development and implementation of processes and controls for intergroup transactions and contributing to the increased use of technology and digitalisation where appropriate to improve performance.

You will be a key member of the senior management group and provide support for the delivery of the ambitious new corporate strategy.

You will ensure the activities of the Trust are carried out to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism and in accordance with the requirements of the regulator and relevant legislation. As a real team player, you will work to embed a strong customer focused culture within the organisation and demonstrate the highest personal standards of integrity and conduct.

Required Skills and Experience:

Full membership of recognised UK accountancy body. Educated to degree level or equivalent.

Substantial post qualification experience at a senior level within the Finance function of a large organisation with up to date experience of accounting systems and financial reporting standards.

Substantial experience of management / oversight of effective transactional processing of income and payments, ensuring fit for purpose systems and processes.

Substantial experience of financial planning and management within a business involving group companies and cross team coordination.

Substantial experience reporting to deadlines including reports for Boards and/or relevant Committees.

Good understanding of the areas for which the role is responsible, including financial accounting, risk, management accounting, performance management, day to day treasury management, insurance, capital accounting, transactions processing and payroll.

Ability to lead subject matter experts effectively, particularly for financial and management accounting, insurance and capital accounting.

Senior management experience in a relevant role within a regulated environment.

Ability to lead, motivate and develop staff, acting as a role model.
Dynamic and energetic personality with a high degree of personal drive and determination, able to learn new ideas quickly and apply them in practice.

Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal; this is essential with people at all levels within the Trust, with residents and with external contacts.

The role requires ongoing critical review and assessment of information in order to support decision making and make recommendations.

Flexible approach to working hours including attendance at occasional evening meetings.
