Role: Head of QHSE
Location: Tyne & Wear
Salary: GBP60,000–GBP75,000 + Benefits
The Position:
Reporting Directly to the GM and positioned within the senior management team this role requires an ability to influence and gain cross functional buy–in to long–term vision and plans based on the overall business needs and the highest industry and professional standards. This role is therefore expected to:
Provide a clear vision and road map of the QSHE function. Ensure that strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs and enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market.
Provide expert contribution to the Senior Management team to enable the Company to achieve its wider goals
Ensure that progress to a world class QSHE function is delivered and maintained
Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities.
Be a change agent within the Company to address weaknesses with benchmarked industry best practice
Play an active role in the management and development of all QSHE related matters.
Skills & Requirements:
BEng (Hon) Engineering or equivalent.
Be knowledgeable with all aspects of the above standards, relevant legislation and compliance requirements
Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 13485Quality Management Standard, OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Management, ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management
Have a high level of competency and accuracy in writing and maintaining clear and professional documentation relating to integrated management systems
Possess strong planning, organisational, teamwork and presentation skills
Demonstratable experience holding a position within the senior leadership team, contributing directly to QHSE requirements
Electrical and mechanical knowledge
Responsibilities:
Coordinating activities required on all sites to meet Company, site and regulatory quality/ safety/ environmental standards.
Ensure compliance with specific external and internal standards including, ISO 13485, ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and performing key activities to ensure that critical issues are immediately escalated, and regulatory compliance maintained.
Oversee and deliver effective solutions for managing quality complaints through analysis and robust follow up actions in conjunction with the relevant departments/sites.
Manage and improve QSHE procedures and documents in line with the relevant management standards for all sites.
Lead, coach and develop the QSHE team across all sites.
Control the day–to–day operations including auditing, meetings, training and updating documents and records for all aspects of the QSHE systems
Liaise with management and staff to ensure continued QHSE integration into core operations
Monitor and ensure that all Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental legislation is complied with and ensure a safe working environment for all team members within a busy manufacturing and service environment.
Conduct Continuous Improvement processes to improve processes and procedures
Ensure timely resolution of supplier corrective actions.
Oversee the quality management systems and product quality issues providing regulatory and quality input to the design and change control process
Working with department managers to ensure product modifications are investigated if necessary.
Working with department managers to ensure that procedures, documents and tests are planned, formulated and agreed
Assist Engineering and Operations in design assurance during transfer of new product developments to production.
Post Market Surveillance of new products.
Ensure the QSHE function prepares and presents data for required meetings e.g. Product Quality Meetings and Management Reviews.
Administer the control of non–conforming products and deviations as appropriate.
Manage the complaints handling system from receipt through to closure with the assistance of other departments as required for investigations and CAPA implementation.
Developing and maintaining the company's QSHE documentation (and overseeing the administration and management of controlled documents).
Overseeing QSHE participation in relevant audits e.g. internal and supplier audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits reports and determining appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
Reduction of customer complaints through analysis and robust follow up actions in conjunction with the relevant departmental managers
Provide and communicate accurate and timely QHSE data to the wider management team
