Finance Director - Film & TV Production

Award winning TV and Film Production company are looking for an experienced FD with a strong background in production to join the team, take responsibilities for the financials of the business and provide sound strategic direction including M&A activities.

Reporting to the founders, the Finance Director will be an experienced Finance Director with a strong background working within scaling SMEs and / or independent TV and Film production companies. This role requires strong industry knowledge and solid technical understanding as well as leadership and negotiating skills, and the ability to create both credible and trusted key stakeholder relationships. This is a pivotal role and vital to the future success of the business and will work closely with the senior leadership team in driving the business forward.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision making as appropriate, and providing guidance on all activities, plans and targets
• Produce monthly financial pack to include detailed commentary, KPI and other ad hoc information as requested in a timely manner
• Work closely with Head of Production to ensure a joined up company wide financial strategy
• Take the lead on all financial matters relating to any M&A activities
• Build complex financial models to support commercial and strategic decisions, incorporating various scenarios and assumptions
• Take ownership of monthly management reporting, P&L, Balance Sheet, financial and margin analysis
• Develop a broad set of KPI's to analyse profit performance
• Maintain internal financial controls and risk management
• Maintain robust budget and forecast information in conjunction with Head of Production
• Overseeing audit and tax functions
• Lead and maintain day-to-day financial operations, including tracking financial data, invoicing, and administering payroll
• Work closely with HR on our people budget, benefit and remuneration processes, including the creation of a company bonus structure
• Prepare annual statutory accounts and tax computations
• Manage external stakeholders such as investors, banks, lawyers, accountants/auditors as required

Skills and qualifications:

• Fully qualified ACA/ACCA or CIMA Accountant with a proven track record in a finance leadership role
• Must have TV/Film production experience, ideally within a similar sized SME
• Credible M&A experience
• Strong analytical skills, exceptional numerical proficiency and strong leadership skills
• Hands on and happy to get into the detail but also have the ability to contribute at executive level offering your strategic and commercial acumen
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are essential with the ability to present a and maintain relationships with Investors
• Excellent attention to detail showing logical decision making and prompt delivery to deadlines
• Comfortable working with people at all levels both strategic and operationally
