Senior Financial Accountant

Reporting to the Financial Controller of this acquisitive and innovative client based in Reading.

You will ensure that group and statutory reporting requirements are met in a timely and robust manner. Manage the implementation and reporting of newly acquired product.

Monthly Reporting Process: Plan, organise and manage own workload to ensure the companies monthly financial reporting processes are achieved in a timely and accurate manner, including but not limited to:
  • Managing implementation of newly acquired product, working with Financial Controller (FC) to integrate new markets and processes into reporting.
  • Preparation of stock valuation, and necessary stock provisions, ensuring early identification of stock risks
  • Monitoring of goods received not invoiced account ensuring timely reconciliation
  • Preparation of Accruals and Prepayments
  • Maintenance of fixed asset and intangible asset register
  • Reconciliation of Intercompany balances
  • Processing of timesheets for required departments
  • Participate strongly in financial reviews, challenging and providing commentary on significant transactions and variances
  • Preparation of group submissions, including management notes, annotation and analysis
  • Preparation of robust balance sheet reconciliations ensuring that all carrying balances are adequately supported
  • Preparation of Actual and forecast cash flow submissions
  • Preparation of Functional Reporting Commentary for Actuals and submission to Head Office
  • Updating of BI tool to enable review of Actuals

Statutory Returns

Assist the finance team in ensuring statutory reporting obligations are correctly recorded, reconciled, authorised and submitted in a timely manner:
  • Preparation of VAT returns, EC Sales list and intrastat returns
  • Preparation of National Statistical Office returns
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual PPRS returns
  • Assist in the preparation of Corporation Tax returns
  • Assist in the preparation P11d and PSA returns
  • Assist in the preparation of Statutory Accounts Business Partnering
  • Working closely with budget holders and Commercial Finance to ensure accuracy of financial information and fair and robust forecasts and budgets for specific area of P&L:
  • Conducting regular meetings with cost centre owners, to review financial transactions, to ensure understanding and accountability for figures


Requirements:
  • Experience of working consistently to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining high level of accuracy
  • Challenging and analytical in nature, confident to challenge until underlying reasons are identified
  • Ability to work as a team and as an individual
  • Able to provide meaningful analysis of data using Excel, able to utilise pivot tables and macros where appropriate
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA etc.)
