The Role
We are seeking a Senior Counsel for GKN Aerospace's Civil Airframe business to deputise the newly appointed Head of Legal for GKN Aerospace's Civil Airframe division.
Civil Airframe is the largest division within GKN Aerospace. Airframe provides a wide range of parts including wing structures, fuselages, electrical wiring systems and components for major platforms ranging from helicopters to business jets to the most used single aisle aircraft and the largest passenger planes in the world.
The Senior Legal counsel will be based in Solihull at Blythe Valley but covers a global remit where travel (subject to current restrictions) will be a part of the role.
The role will provide senior level support to the Head of Legal and you will advise on a range of multi-jurisdictional issues across the Civil Airframe business. The role is incredibly general covering matters in the following areas:
The Senior Counsel will also assist the Head of Legal in functional matters including: - reporting, people management, stakeholder management, training, policies and processes, best practice sharing.
The Person
You will be an experienced and robust In-house lawyer with at least 7 PQE who has held a generalist positon with solid post qualification experience in a complex organisation. It is desirable that you have manufacturing experience. You will be commercial and pragmatic having advised on a wide variety of business issues.
You will be a technically strong lawyer with the ability to prioritise key issues. You will have a track record of being an influencer and an effective relationship builder. You will be comfortable working outside your legal remit when required and have the ability to be a true 'counsel' to the business - displaying a high level of emotional intelligence. You will be comfortable deputising for the Head of Legal and handling matters significant matters as required.
