Position: Plant Director
Based: Peterborough, UK
Reporting to the EMEA Flavour Solutions Operations Director, the role has a strategic and operational responsibility for the manufacturing and distribution activities for the new McCormick factory in Peterborough, UK
The role works closely with EMEA commercial units on change projects, launches and service improvement, leads and implements best practice, cost reduction and business simplification projects and initiatives.
The new Peterborough facility is a green–field, multi–year investment that shall be a global flagship site for McCormick and will be one of the largest food manufacturing facilities in Europe. The facility is being built in close partnership with our customers, communities and other external stakeholders to be truly industry leading.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
?? Lead the scale–up up of site for first saleable product and rapid expansion
?? Translate the vision of Supply Chain of the Future into a clear 3–5–year site Roadmap
?? Deliver in–year operations excellence, balanced across Growth, Performance and People.
?? Build relationships with marketing, engineering, commercial, R&D to understand business challenges and needs aligned with costs targets.
?? Resource the organisation in line with McCormick OPM principles, with the appropriate talent and performance management.
?? Participate in the S&OP process through the business to achieve superior cost, efficiency and service.
?? Manage working capital levels in line with business needs and commitments.
?? Provide support to commercial units in all aspects of change, including customer facing where required
?? Create and lead a diverse, high performing and high potential organization
?? Lead a behavioural safety agenda.
?? Responsible for the operational budget's compliance, overall ownership of the COGS line.
?? Report Plant Industrial performance using agreed business process KPIs.
?? Responsible for the identification and execution of the capital expenditure and cost reduction plans and initiatives.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
?? Master of science or MBA level in food technology, engineering, sciences or Supply Chain Logistics.
?? Leadership of a large & complex manufacturing site in a fast moving, dynamic operating environment. Food manufacturing experience preferred but not essential
?? Experience of working within a range of business cultures; international assignment is a plus.
?? Previous multi–country operating experience is a plus.
?? At ease to navigate in matrix organization.
?? Project planning skills has demonstrated success of supply chain and major change management projects; plant construction, SAP implementation, acquisition etc.
?? Significant TPM knowledge and implementation experience.
?? Worked on cross functional projects / Supply chain / engineering, track record of successful team working.
?? Experience of leading negotiations with Unions/Works councils i.e. factory relocation, compulsory redundancy, major changes to existing work practices, etc.
?? Fluent in English. Another language is a plus.
