To provide assurance of Health, Safety and Environment compliance to the Leonardo UK Board of Directors through the strategic leadership, governance and effective management of all LMWL SHE activities across the UK geography, directing, managing and maintaining the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Management Systems of Leonardo MW Limited (LMWL).

Key Responsibility Areas

As Head of Safety, Health and Environment – Leonardo Global Solutions UK , you will lead, direct and provide expertise, support and advice on all health, safety and environmental matters for the company providing assurance to the Board of Directors. You will take responsibility for all safety management policies, processes, procedures and projects, introducing Best Practice, Continuous Improvement and world–class systems and behaviours.

Accountabilities include:

Deploy a homogeneous and effective management of health and safety across the company to harmonise and standardise the UK SHE management systems, associated processes and procedures to create an integrated SHE organisation across the UK sites.
Put in place processes and procedures to ensure that the implications and duties imposed by new Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments, H.S.E. Guidance Notes and Codes of Practice are brought to the attention of the Board of Directors and Company Executives ensuring the business remains compliant.
Bring company related health and safety matters to the attention of the Board of Directors and Company Executives at regular intervals including reports on SHE performance.
Lead a team of geographic SHE Managers to ensure that they deliver their duties and responsibilities with respect to inspections, audits (internal and external), changes in legislation and advice obtained from consultants to the company.
Advise the Company Executives on the development of a SHE strategy and associated SHE objectives.
Direct a companywide system of risk assessment including safe systems of work.
Achieve and maintain accreditation to the ISO14001, ISO45001 and ISO50001 standards to maintain compliance.
Lead the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the LMWL SHE Management system and ensure its effective communication to internal and external stakeholders including all appropriate regulatory bodies.
Drive the achievement of the UK sustainability objectives including the achievement of Net Zero Carbon by 2030 across the UK Divisions.
Ensure a robust process for the provision of safety and environmental information and training to all employees.
Ensure that all RIDDOR, Serious Incidents and Injuries are thoroughly investigated and provide guidance for the review of near misses.
Work with the Divisional SHE Managers to provide expert advice on SHE best practice including the development of a Just Safety Culture.
Review Divisional SHE resource requirements and manage and develop the SHE resources within the UK Divisions.
Co–ordinate Climate Change Agreements (CCA) and Carbon Reduction Commitments (CRC) to ensure compliance with the CCA and CRC regulations through the development and implementation of policies and practices to reduce utilities consumption.
Carry out the role of appointed/competent person for water management, asbestos management and carbon management.Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

Experience of leading a SHE function within a Multi–Site organisation at an Executive level.
Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) and at least Associate membership of IEMA (AIEMA).
Demonstrated experience in the achievement and ongoing accreditation of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001.
Detailed knowledge of UK statutory regulations concerning health safety and environment.
A minimum of 10 years relevant work experience in a SHE management, project management, manufacturing environment with responsibility for supplying key business support services.
Excellent interpersonal and team skills with the ability to communicate and interact at all levels.
Facilitation skills (to support delivery of activities).
Negotiation skills (to engage with suppliers to deliver the required outcomes).
Training skills (to support delivery of training to the Company Executives).
Computer literate with experience of MS Office products.
Experience of deployment of an electronic SHE management system within a Multi–Site organisation.
