I am currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Greater London for a Head of Employment, Skills and Enterprise to work with them on a contract basis.
The successful applicant will act as the Council's Principal Advisor on employment, skills and enterprise, leading on policy and strategy development and assisting the Council to influence and respond to public policy and new Government of regional initiatives. They will lead on the development of the service to improve resident's skills, help them access quality employment, and to support business growth and town centre improvements/diversification.
The postholder will work to translate strategy into measurable operational plans and promise continuous improvement, leading the employment, skills and enterprise agenda both internally and with partner organisations.
The postholder will be responsible for adult education, employment services and support, economic growth and the Town Centre programme. All of these areas are crucial to delivering on the Council's objectives in the Borough Plan, and particularly in helping with recovery from the impacts of the pandemic.
There are exciting projects underway which will need supervision and guidance, including the Town Centre Investment Strategy, and the development of a new adult education centre.
Person specification:
An experienced public sector leader with experience of employment, skills and economic
Strategic experience in a related area
Extensive management experience
