We are looking for a Head of Demand to lead the newly created Demand Centre of Excellence (CoE), reporting into our Commodities Research group. This new role provides an exceptional opportunity to work across Wood Mackenzie, ensuring our demand analysis is a must–have reference source for our clients.

Understanding demand is increasingly important, as the energy transition and shifting patterns of global consumption evolve. The role will ensure leading edge analytics, technologies and modelling techniques are used to acquire, interpret and forecast demand data.

You will be responsible for our demand–side analysis across all energy and natural resources sectors (Oil, Gas and NGLs, LNG, Coal, Power, Refined Products, Petrochemicals and Metals), ensuring forecast accuracy, credibility and consistency.

Strengthened by your sector–specific experience you have proposed approaches to forecast energy and natural resources demand, focusing particularly on integrated methodologies for Power, Industrial Production, Commercial / Residential segments and Transport.

About The Role

You will be custodian for demand forecasting methodology for each commodity, segments and key markets. Leading demand base case forecasting for each update cycle across all commodities, you will define the approach and appropriate level of granularity used by Wood Mackenzie to analyse and forecast demand in each commodity area. You will bring specific understanding of a range of modelling methodologies applicable to short–term and long–term demand modelling.

Your focus will be to transform the business. This will include contributing to fostering an open, innovative and dynamic environment where unconventional thinking is encouraged. You will ensure thought leadership is authored highlighting Wood Mackenzie analysis and perspectives on demand and its role in energy transition.

As Head of Demand, you will represent our demand views externally. You will be able to prioritize what matters to clients and the industry. Given your engagement with your network of senior–level clients and contacts, you will understand their needs and business priorities. Internally you will establish efficient demand modelling consistent with the defined forecasting methodologies. You will also focus on setting up price response functions for demand as part of integrated energy balance modelling, reflecting the interplay between different commodity sectors and energy transition factors.

You will work collaboratively developing demand subject matter expertise and the community of demand analysts in each commodity area. You will also work closely with the other CoE Leads (in particular, Modelling and Economics), commodity Subject Matter Experts, modelling experts, data analysts and data scientists across Research and Technology to ensure that appropriate demand models are developed, used and maintained. You will ensure Wood Mackenzie's integrated energy balance modelling incorporates appropriate price elasticity and demand response functions
