One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Public Health Programme Manager. This is a temporary contract for 3 months with possible further extension based on budget and performance.

Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary

* This is a high–profile role providing backfill cover for portfolio leads within the Public Health Service.

* The post holder will support the leadership of Sexual Violence Prevention and Whole Systems Obesity.

Duties and Responsibilities

* To work with colleagues to achieve service plan objectives/targets.

* To participate in Employee Development Scheme/Appraisals and contribute to the identification of your own and team development needs

* To actively promote the Council's Equal Opportunity Policy and Diversity Strategy and observe the standard of conduct which prevents discrimination taking place.

* To ensure full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 etc., the Council's Health and Safety Policy and all locally agreed safe methods of work.

* To oversee the on–going development and implementation of plans and policies that address Sexual Violence Prevention and Whole Systems Obesity.

* To work with the Consultant in Public Health, and other Service Managers and strategic leads, within Thurrock Council, NHS England, PHE and Thurrock Clinical Commissioning Group to lead designated health improvement programmes.

* To ensure that there is a process that involves service users, professionals and others in identifying all relevant issues that each agency should accept responsibility for meeting in order to meet their statutory responsibilities.

* In all instances, to work to current national guidelines and statute with knowledge about emerging research findings relevant to the area of responsibility and to be mindful of models of best practice as they emerge ensuring Thurrock's service stays at the forefront of national developments.

* To work at all times to accepted notions of best practice in the area of equal opportunities and anti–discrimination offering a proactive lead for staff and others.

* To link in with relevant national and regional work around delivery of public health programmes.

* To support, and at times, deputise for the Consultant in Public Health in the strategic planning and provision of high–quality children and young person's health improvement services.

* Support the Consultant in Public Health by leading the Whole Systems Obesity agenda and Sexual Violence Prevention.

* Co Ordinate the Sexual Violence Prevention Partnership Board.

* Coordinate the implementation of the whole systems obesity action plan.

* Promote partnership working through collaborative working with other commissioners (e.g., other Local Authority Children's Directorate, Thurrock CCG, NHS England, PHE, Children's services commissioners, Adult services commissioners) and through the effective engagement of providers.

* To liaise with external bodies where appropriate including Thurrock CCG, Other CCGs, NHS England, and PHE and represent the local health economy in regional and national networks as appropriate.
