Job Description

* Job Title: Business Development Manager – Food

* Job Type: Permanent

* Working Pattern: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

* Job Location: Field based

* Travel: 50% of the time

* Remuneration: As Business Development Manager, you'll receive a competitive salary which will be determined dependant on experience level, a company car will also be provided. In addition, you'll benefit from a 10% performance bonus, sales commission, private health cover, a contributory pension scheme and life cover.

As Business Development Manager you'll be responsible for leading and driving the development of food audit and certification in the UK. You'll develop strategy, business and implementation plans aligned to the broader global development strategy and take a leadership role on all new and potential food audit and certification initiatives, from initial sales to delivery so that new projects are sold to fully meet customer and stakeholder needs and are both operationally and commercial viable for SGS.

Key Accountabilities;

* Develop, maintain and implement a business strategy to accelerate the growth of food audit and certification services in the UK.

* Work closely with all business units to ensure that the strategy covers the broadest range of audit, certification and training services

* Ensure close alignment with the international food strategy through the forging of close ties with the global audit team

* In implementing the agreed strategy, work closely with sales and account managers across the networks to ensure agreed priorities are addressed and targets met. At the same time, take individual responsibility for identifying leads and presenting and converting proposals

* Increase SGS profile in the UK food industry by representing the company in key UK food industry events and working groups.

* Champion SGS Food by liaising closely with marketing teams to ensure the Food audit portfolio is proactively represented.

Qualifications

To be successful in the role, you'll require significant and recent sales experience within the food sector, working for either a Certification Body or other food industry service provider. You'll demonstrate strong working knowledge food audit and/or certification.

You'll have the ability to network and influence as a thought leader, you'll be able to multi–task and manage conflicting priorities with the ability to inspire effective teamwork across a matrix organisation.

In addition to the above you'll also need to demonstrate the following;

* Project Management and Key account management skills

* Negotiation and Solutions Based sales skills

* Experience of sales and contract negotiations on complex projects

* Track record in managing customised consultancy projects

* Presenting management information on projects including P&L

* Identification and securing resources to deliver projects

* Must hold current driving licence
