Chief Medical Officer

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Scotland post is a significant, and highly visible role, with regular Ministerial contact and a high external profile. The CMO is the chief medical adviser to the First Minister, the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport and the wider Ministerial team and has direct access to them. The post is based within the Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorates (also operating as the headquarters of NHSScotland). The postholder will report formally to the Director General for Health and Social Care and Chief Executive of NHSScotland. It is expected that the postholder will work collaboratively across the directorates in the Scottish Government, the NHS, the wider health and care system and public sector as well as a range of professional networks. You will be a champion for the culture, values and behaviours of the health and care system.

This is a permanent and pensionable SCS appointment. If applicable, secondment from your existing employer would also be considered. Relocation expenses may be available.
