ABOUT THE ROLE:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Head of HR to cover maternity leave for 12months. This is a generalist role covering all aspects of HR and managing a team of 6 people. This role is to be the provision of HR support and advice to all our Central functions, in order to support the achievement of organisational strategy and objectives. You will own the People and Change agenda for Central functions and be responsible for driving this forward and embedding these processes in to our managers and their teams.

This role is reporting directly in to our Group Director of People & Compliance and you will be expected to take control of your area from the start, be able to influence at all levels, thrive within a fast–paced and ever changing environment where no day will ever be the same. You will be confident, great with people and lead from the front.

Some key responsibilities:

* Ensure management decisions are taken in line with internal policies and procedures, UK employment legislation or after a full risk analysis of potential consequences

* Central Functions business contact for the RPO relationship with selected provider

* Provision of advice to line managers in relation to salary bandings, job evaluation and salary survey information to ensure a consistent, fair and transparent process, in line with Company procedures

* Work with line managers to identify individual or departmental training and development needs and provision of appropriate solutions

* Support and advice on appropriate organsiational structures, impact of any proposed changes including risks and areas of best practice

* Management of facilities manager to ensure building is effectively managed and maintained within budget

* Development of effective employee relations strategy that supports business objectives

* Analysis of date from engagement survey to identify functional areas of improvement and development of recommendations and action plans

* Management of sickness process for employees within central functions, including referral of employees to OH practitioners and advising of continuation of employment

* Undertaking of ad hoc project work as required, including TUPE transfers (in and out), site closure/ movements and general business changes which effect the current structure in central function

* Management of HR Reward Analyst to ensure objectives and services are met to the BU

ABOUT YOU:

* Proven experience in generalist HR role at a senior level

* CIPD Qualified or equivalent by experience Level 7

* Experience of advising line managers and problem solving across a full range of HR activities

* Sound and up to date knowledge of employment law

* Demonstrated ability to work within a Unionised environment

* Proven experience in providing advice on employment related matters, whilst keeping a focus on business outcomes

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Understanding of best practice in all areas of HR
