Business Development Manager – South Devon

We are looking to procure an experienced Business Development Manager to join the team for a Devon based Metocean consultancy. Specialising in metocean and marine geoscience they have a formidable reputation and global reach.

Their skills combine oceanographic and geoscience survey expertise with specialist consultancy in coastal and marine processes and geomorphology. Their team of scientists, consultants and surveyors provide clients with an innovative, flexible and contractually amenable solution while always going the extra mile in service delivery. They work across a variety of sectors including offshore energy, marine construction, tidal defence and utilities with long term client relationships and pipeline of work. Launched in 2003 the firm was established by three Directors, passionate about client service and delivery. Now at 16 years old they are one of the few players in the market who have retained their independence and therefore their competitive edge.

Develop and maintain a BD plan that provides an instant overview of our markets, customers, key relationships, and the strategy to maintain and increase business.
Build upon and maintain regular contact within our existing clients, increasing the breadth and depth of relationships, understanding the key stakeholders in these organisations and identifying new project opportunities.
Target, build relationships and win work with new clients in existing and new markets, in the UK and Europe.
Prioritise efforts put into sales opportunities through qualifying leads and subsequently support the go/no–go decision.
Support the presentation of proposals to clients including the production, and face to face delivery, of client sales / tender presentations.
Manage and develop the companies CRM database to track leads and to report (to the Board) monthly on the opportunity pipeline.
Coordinate press releases and marketing material.
Support brand building and profile–raising using LinkedIn.
Network and promote the business at industry events. Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
A business development CV, detailing major achievements.
Experience in any of our key industries, including Offshore Renewables, O&G, Ports and Harbours, Dredging and Marine Construction, is essential.
Fluent in English language (spoken and written).
UK Driving License. Other Details:

Strong organisational skills.
Ability to work autonomously and to deadlines.
Fluency in other European languages would be of interest, though not essential.
Ability and tenacity to manage a long bidding cycle (6+ months).
Manage CRM and Pipeline.Location is flexible, but you must be able and be prepared to travel frequently to either our South West or North East offices. Travel for business development is anticipated to be predominantly UK based, with occasional European travel.
