Responsibilities
- Advise the business on a broad range of legal, compliance and regulatory issues, developing processes and procedures across a number of business divisions
- Advice on and drafting a range of contracts including bill of lading, charterparty, cargo and ship purchase agreements as well as more general commercial contracts as needed
- Oversee regulatory and compliance matters, in regard to ship owning, services and insurance products, affecting the business globally
- Support the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures, rolling them out throughout the business
- Oversee external legal advisors
- Conduct risk assessments
- Oversee legal training and development programmes for the Group
- A UK qualified lawyer with at least two years' experience * advising on shipping law, trained either with a well-regarded law firm or in-house
- Must have experience of drafting and advising on shipping and other commercial contracts
- Creative approach to problem solving
- Self-motivation with an ability to work under pressure
- Good judgement and decision-making skills, with an understanding of the impact on stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
