The Opportunity

We have a unique opportunity for a VP Engineering to lead the engineering team here at Leonardo in Edinburgh. We are a global leader in defence electronics and deliver mission critical systems for situational awareness, electronic warfare and surveillance across land, sea and air. We are uniquely positioned as one of the world's top manufacturers of radars, lasers and infra–red countermeasure systems.

This key role will lead the engineering multi–disciplinary management team working in partnership with multiple functions by ultimately providing an environment to encourage high performing teams to continue to achieve excellent results. People are our key asset, ensuring we have a culture for individuals to thrive and contribute to the success of the business is at the heart of what we do.

What we can offer you

A competitive executive benefits package is a given. More importantly, we offer flexibility in the way we work and want to encourage people from all circumstances because what's really critical to us, is how you perform. We understand that demands on your time outside of work are important to you and these do not preclude you from enjoying a rewarding career. What we can certainly offer you is the opportunity to lead an established, focused, innovative engineering team, developing products that will create a phenomenal legacy in the defence Industry. As the VP Engineering you will play a pivotal part in shaping our future of engineering during a time of significant change. You will be empowered, developed and valued for your contribution to our legacy.

Key Responsibility Areas

We have a community of over 900 key members of the engineering team at the Edinburgh site. This role will define, support and execute the engineering strategy and the technology roadmap for current and future technologies by presenting engineering solutions focusing on reducing time to deliver and enhancing product performance. You will create and nurture the environment for individuals and teams to strive, enabling Leonardo to continue to be at the forefront in technology. Driving efficiencies within the Life Cycle Management (LCM) process; and enhancing the current approach to re–use is key to this role. Positively and respectfully challenging ways of working will be natural for you.

You do not have to have the engineering domain knowledge, we have a strong team to support your development and learning in this area. Your role is to provide the environment to encourage and develop future innovation and a thriving culture. We are offering a fantastic challenge to be part of the future of engineering at Leonardo.
