VP of Engineering | Award–winning business in Bristol (Remote working available)
Are you a highly established VP of Engineering?
Do you have a track record of driving tech transformation, whilst motivating a team of engineers to deliver high–quality solutions on time and in budget?
Been there as an engineer, happy to roll up your sleeves as and when it's appropriate, capture client requirements roadmap solutions – If this is you, read on!
This is an outstanding opportunity for someone looking to join a well–established, multiple award–winning business, who have so far this year processed 25 million orders and over GBP3 Billion dollars' worth of invoiced orders.
So, it's fair to say, business is booming!
I'm glad to say that this is a business with diversity & inclusion at the forefront of their mind, they are willing to accommodate for candidates' personal circumstances and are passionate about creating equal opportunities for applicants. SR2 has been successful in growing their Bristol tech team over the past couple of years through an exciting growth phase and are delighted to be supporting them with this crucial hire.
Their office is based in the heart of Bristol, which is an exciting and vibrant tech hub, and they are ready to take their engineering department to the next level of software engineering excellence.
You are going to be the first in the command, the Queen or King of 6 highly skilled teams who will be reporting directly into you. You'll be in close collaboration and partnership with their Product, Customer Success, Support, and Sales teams. The tech teams are made up of Software Engineers that work with multiple programming languages, DevOps Engineers, TechOps and you're going to be navigating them through as they approach a 'mission–critical' stage of growth.
At times, you're going to need to be the last person standing, available & on call at all times as the VP of Engineering, leading by example to the various teams you are overseeing. You'll be reporting directly to the CEO for the role.
The current culture of the engineering team is very relaxed, the team is performing well and hitting the current timelines, however as things move into Mission–Critical – they're ramping things up and are looking for someone who can really come in and 'up to ante!'
Overall, I am looking for someone who has the ability and demonstratable experience of creating much better visibility of what is going on within an Engineering team and motivating each individual to deliver to the highest quality.
The experience we're looking for:
Proven & demonstratable experience of motivating engineering teams to deliver highly scalable systems within deadlines.
The ability to manage multiple projects, within a fast–paced & dynamic environment.
Highly curious, with attention to detail & excellent listening skills.
You can demonstrate ownership and accountability through the execution of tasks.
Up to date with the best practices to keep them ahead of the game.
Excellent communication skills & people skills.
The ability to translate technical requirements to non–technical people across to company all the way to people in executive positions.
Proven experience of delivering a transformation within a larger business.
Experience in managing larger teams.
The ability to win the hearts & minds of engineers, earn their respect, and be credible in their eyes.
The ability as well as the desire, to get to know how to motivate each individual across the various teams you will be managing. They're offering a generous package for this very senior hire of GBP140k + an annual bonus between 10–20%, however, the salary will be open to negotiation for the right candidate.
