Head of Statutory Safety Compliance
Salary: GBP68,000 plus excellent benefits

We're pleased to working on an exclusive basis with Oxford Brookes University, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Head of Statutory Safety Compliance. The role will lead a number of new initiatives and projects across the estates and campus services function. The University has a diverse and complex estate including residential, scientific, engineering and laboratory environments to name a few.

Health and Safety is a top priority for the University and the successful candidate will join a well–established team of technical professionals operating across various specialisms. The role will directly manage safety and compliance staff and activities across all faculties.

The role will be offered on a 1–year fixed term contract, with every possibility of this extending or becoming a permanent position. The role would suit an experienced health and safety professional with previous leadership and project management experience.

Responsibilities for the Head of Statutory Safety Compliance will include:

Leading the development and delivery of a best practice safety compliance strategy, identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of the team and operations
Ensure a consistent process is in place for the management and testing of assets across the University to ensure regulatory compliance and reduction in risk across the estate
Develop and establish key relationships across the University, with the Directors of Estates and Campus Services, HR, Faculty Heads of Ops, the Head of Risk and other key stakeholders
Provide timely reporting of all safety and compliance activity to the Vice Chancellors Group and other senior level committees as required
Oversight of all approved institutional budgets for safety and compliance across the portfolioThe successful candidate will have:

Proven experience in a similar safety or compliance position from a related industry sector
NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent health and safety qualification
Chartered membership of a relevant industry body, or working towards (i.e IOSH)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience influencing and engaging with a wide range of senior stakeholders
