Transport Business Development Director – Competitive Salary and Bonus
Clemence Rogers are working in partnership with a large Transport company in recruiting a Business Development Director.
This is a senior position within the management team and a major opportunity for a dynamic and driven individual. The aim of the position is to provide through strong sales management both top and bottom line growth. The focus of the role will be to grow revenue at acceptable margins working closely with the senior management team to improve market position and achieve profitable financial growth. The critical aspects of the job role will be develop high level opportunities, the negotiation of contracts and the closure of new business opportunities. The successful candidate will identify long–term commercial objectives, develop and build key customer relationships with FMCG's, identify business opportunities, while at the same time maintain and report current market trends and conditions.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
• Increasing the sales of Full loads both Eastbound and Westbound to Northern Ireland and R.O.I
• Identification of new markets and business opportunities and manage these opportunities to become trading partners of the business
• Strategies for improvement in growing our business
• Penetration into major accounts particularly on the FMCG side
• In conjunction with rest of the Sales Team oversee the prospecting of new clients and convert into business growth.
• Ensure a robust pipeline of commercial opportunities.
• Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
• Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within existing and potential client organisations.
• Research and build relationships with new clients.
• Set up meetings between client decision makers.
• Plan approaches and sales pitches.
• Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately
• Analysis of rate increase campaigns
• Review of all cost matrix material we have and development where we have gaps
• Recommendation of a medium / long term group commercial / sales strategy to maximise growth and profitability
• Define strategic plans for various areas of the business particularly with regard our ROI strategy.
Experience
• Proven working experience in a logistical environment able to demonstrate sound operational and commercial knowledge of the industry
• Proven sales track record with a strong record of closing major deals
• Total ability to work to targets and to be judged by the same
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage a sales pipeline that provides continual growth
• Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software
• Market knowledge
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders
• Time management and planning skills
• Confident and resourceful in the face of challenges
• Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures and instructions
• The ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales
• Travel is required and overnight stays away from home may be required.
• A flexible approach to working hours is required to meet the needs of the business
