A market leader in the design, engineering and manufacture of complex capital equipment solutions our client has an impressive portfolio of customers and reputation.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering & Projects, the Senior Programme Manager will be responsible for the effective delivery of projects, through effective relationship management and development of key internal and external stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

* Establish, communicate and embed a vision for the project management organisation in line with business strategy and values

* Lead the Project management and site delivery teams, motivating and engaging them behind the departments vision in support of business goals

* Take accountability for the performance of current and future projects against key metrics and overall profitability on an international basis

* Play a proactive management role, taking overall responsibility for one or more projects where required to ensure successful performance and delivery

* Work with customers to establish and develop robust relationships that are founded on partnership and collaboration in support of reciprocal benefit

* Ensure contractual commitments are managed closely, ensuring variation control is robust and mitigates risk to the business

* Drive a continuous improvement mentality throughout the project management team encouraging and rewarding behaviour that challenges the status quo in pursuit of world class standards

* Implement and manage an appropriate suite of tools to report on project and team performance, encapsulating key metrics that can be effectively communicated to leadership

* Implement systems, processes and controls that improve governance and control

* Work in close collaboration with internal colleagues across sales, engineering and manufacturing to provide cohesive approach to the market and customer base

* Continuously review the project team's performance and capabilities, implementing corrective actions and development plans where needed

To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience of working in a senior project/programme management position, managing large–scale, bespoke projects of multi–million GBP value. You will be a people–focused driver of change with outstanding leadership, communication and commercial acumen.

Key selection criteria

* Degree in an Engineering related subject (or equivalent)

* Demonstrable and significant experience in programme leadership developed in complex engineered solutions environment

* Experience of working in construction, infrastructure, complex capital equipment, large–scale automation, petrochemical and/or processing sectors or equivalent

* Experience working under nec3 contract frameworks or comparable frameworks is preferred

* Demonstrable strategic leadership, able to take a "helicopter" view and make sound decisions in the best interest of the wider business

* Strong commercial acumen, able to interpret business performance from information presented and make informed judgements

* Outstanding customer management skills, able to present articulately and confidently to a variety of customer types with varying expectations and needs

* Basic knowledge of appropriate ISO Standards and hazardous area standards

* The ability to confidently negotiate a route through a complex and fast changing environment, using the flexible application of critical reasoning and strategic thinking

* The ability to define and communicate to the organisation a clear vision and strategy

* The drive for continuous improvement and the courage to challenge, innovate and lead others to deliver change. A key success factor for this role is the ability to energise and alert groups to the need for specific changes in the way the business needs to perform

* Strong use of systems, preferably primavera P6 or equivalent are preferred

* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
