My client has built and operates a series of large, automated distribution Centres to satisfy increasing demand from customers.
As a result of growth, a Construction and Installation team has been established to support the business and develop the capabilities needed to build and install the technology for themselves and clients across the world. As the company has transformed there is a growing need to support multiple complex projects across new styles and sizes of sites.
I am looking for a Head of MHE Installation for EMEA who will be accountable for the simultaneous delivery of MHE Installations across client sites in various EMEA countries.
What will you be doing?
Leadership & management of the Lead Engineering Project Manager team who cover all the projects in EMEA. This team installs, commissions and fault–find on the proprietary Material Handling Equipment against challenging budgets, whilst delivering machines that operate correctly first time.
Leadership of the on–site engineering teams who report to the Lead Engineers including install and commissioning specialists and Delivery Managers and Systems Integration Managers.
Plan and schedule the resourcing for a portfolio of site Install projects with multiple stakeholders and their dependencies. Each site to be delivered in 12–15 months.
Recruitment and on–boarding of new site install delivery teams to work in EMEA countries whilst ensuring local competencies, qualifications meet in–country regulation.
Oversee the successful deployment and implementation of safety management systems during construction phases
Ensure that significant adverse events are investigated, and that management introduce controls to reduce any risks
Set the standard for the plan, design and management of construction sites in–country for MHE, dovetailing with clients and principal contractors, whilst being responsible for all company construction safety in–country.
Set up a 5 year installation regional strategy, incorporating framework contract orders, standardisation of tenders and contracts.
Tender and negotiate multi–million contracts incorporating high labour content, technical difficulty against a challenging budget target.
Responsibility for the team's adherence of national/local legislation for construction/engineering compliance.
Responsible for MHE risk identification, mitigation and documentation. This requires anticipating engineering challenges and the need to manage and consult mitigations/issues (e.g. Prototypes, Engineering compliance etc.).
Work with the business implementation team to formulate the capital installation budget of MHE hardware strategy and learnings (GBP10m to GBP40m)/site.
About you.
Ideally Chartered or professional status in Engineering or equivalent proven competence
HSE/OSHA etc qualification (valid, in date and maintained)
Familiar with standard PPM tools (Microsoft Project or Primavera 6 Planning Tool etc) applied to complex multi–million/discipline pound projects
Proven knowledge and experience for Controls and Automation equipment
Experience of managing large groups of remote technical teams
Aptitude to lead on technical and commercial discussions with internal and external parties
Ability to communicate strategy to senior stakeholders
Ability to navigate common drawing packages (e.g. Autocad, Revit, Google SketchUp, EPlan + Solidworks etc.)
Ability to negotiate USA and Canadian legal trade contracts with Legal team and suppliers
