PSD are working exclusively with a leading investment and development group, who have a proven, extensive track record of property management & investment across all real estate sectors in both UK & European markets. The business is looking to appoint a Financial Controller who will take over from the current FC who will retire soon.

The Group are a number of things as a business – they are a Private Family Office who focus on Property Investment, Commercial & Mixed Use and Resi Development (they also have their own internal construction firm), and they are a PE Investment Business who multi-jurisdictional structures and substantial assets under management in AUM.

The business has a rich history, stretching back over 30 years, and although a small business in staff size; the FD is keen for the business to be on a par with a small/mid-tier PE firm in terms of reporting robustness and operational systems in place.

Role Objective

A new role as a significant and senior member of the finance team reporting to the Finance Director. This new appointment will be the No 2 position in finance.

Working closely with the FD, you will take day to day responsibility for the finance management function relating to the Group entities and all managed property-owning vehicles. You will interact closely with colleagues and external stakeholders – lawyers, banks, external administrators etc. The job content is wide and varied and the requirement is for an experienced and dynamic finance professional who can help the business with its significant plans over the next few years.

The FD is looking for someone who is progressive, experienced, and dynamic and who can take control of the finance function and take it to the next level.

Key Responsibilities

The core responsibility of the role is the management of 1 part qualified accountant, as well as the financial control and reporting for the Group; including
  • A good understanding of property structures and holding companies,
  • Experience of dealing with offshore trustees and service providers.
  • Advising of and continual improvement of appropriate financial control processes, systems and infrastructure in order to support the current operations and future aspirations of the business;
  • The quantitative element of all investor reporting, including quarterly management accounts;
  • Financial control for the Group companies, investments and projects to include liaising with third parties such as property managers, banks, accountants and suppliers;
  • Revenue and expense management for all projects;
  • Continuous appraisal of project returns;
  • Responsibility for maintenance and development of portfolio analysis details
  • Overseeing the day to day relationships with the accounts function of all property managers;
  • Bank reporting and compliance;
  • Preparation and review of annual financial statements for group entities;
  • All corporate and financial matters (legals, accounts, VAT, income tax, audit, treasury);
  • Keeping abreast of all relevant industry developments and networking to promote yourself and the business within the sector.
  • Monitor all Group investments in projects;
  • Provide forward looking budget based on current and potential business streams;
  • Assist in the preparation of analysis, statistics and marketing material as part of fund raising efforts.

Person Specification
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA or equivalent)
  • Confident with typical PC systems and working knowledge of QUBE preferable
  • Experience in property management desirable
  • Motivated self-starter able to show initiative
  • Able to work independently but consulting where required
  • Strong accounting background with real knowledge and understanding of accounting principles
  • Numerate with excellent attention to detail and able to demonstrate good critical thinking
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the business, and with external parties
