My client is an international corporation with a £6bn global turnover head quartered in Zurich

The vacancy is for an international Tax and Treasury officer

With the expansion of its international operations and the related expansion of international activities in various tax jurisdictions, the recruited individual will provide direct tax support to the Group Controlling Director and treasury support with respect to interest rate and foreign exchange management to the Group Corporate Finance Director. The role will be based in Zurich Switzerland and with a travel requirement for Germany, the USA and the Caribbean.

Principal Responsibilities

• Perform tax research for the appropriate tax treatment focusing on international tax matters (inbound and outbound);
• Prepare and perform reviews of all foreign related tax compliance requirements and provide tax support on audited financial statements, including liaising with internal accounting staff;
• Provide responses to finance team questions regarding the tax rules and tax requirements of foreign countries;
• Assist in and liaising with external advisors when vetting new jurisdictions for risks, treaty provisions, transfer pricing implications, etc.;
• [Assist in addressing tax issues related to employees in foreign locations, including expat tax issues, PE risks of traveling employees, etc. ];
• Assisting in and liaising with advisors and accounting team on transfer pricing and CBCR projects;
• Monitor and advise the wider tax department on international tax developments;
• Miscellaneous foreign tax related projects;
• Support key treasury initiatives focused on identify opportunities to be involved with Treasury management activities, the control environment and relevant processes;
• Provide analysis of swap and derivative opportunities relevant to interest rate and foreign exchange management;
• Ability to multi-task as well as meet short deadlines in a demanding environment;
• Assist in the provision of cash management reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis an in inter-company funding;
• Assist in the management of the Group’s foreign currency exposure including forecasting, reporting, and execution of foreign currency trading, including the support the Group’s expansion into new geographical markets and currencies;
• Help to develop best-practice in working capital management and provide analysis of swap and derivative opportunities relevant to interest rate and foreign exchange management; and
• Develop recommendations to improve tax and treasury function, including for relevant systems if appropriate

Qualifications/Skills Required

• Strong experience of international tax experience from one of the Big 4, preferably with experience in international tax research and international tax compliance, or the tax/treasury department of an international trading company;
• You are ideally educated to a degree level in accounting or tax law with ACA, CPA, AMCT qualifications desirable (or part-qualified);
• Experience with Tax Treaty analysis and with tax regimes in EMEA, USA and the Caribbean;
• Treasury experience with a good understanding of key treasury controls and policies to manage interest rate and foreign exchange exposures;
• Self Motivated with an ability to work with minimal supervision;
• Excellent research and analytical skills and judgment;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills who is fluent in written and spoken English. Additional language skills (German, Spanish) will be an advantage; and
• A genuine team player

The role will be based in Zurich and attracts a salary circa £180,000 plus up to 100% bonus so a total approx £360,000 pounds

For those living full time in Geneva a tax rate of 5% is payable.
