“Controlling Growth, Optimising Opportunity & Maximising Returns”

Our client, One Team Logic Limited, is experiencing a period of sustainable organic growth. In addition, they possess all the key ingredients for future success … a growing market niche, strong brand equity, well invested and liquid (via a recent investment by Octopus Investments), in addition to a well-trained/qualified, dedicated management team/workforce. They have an excellent reputation for quality and innovation and require an incisive Finance Director to provide commercial and financial input into the strategic planning of the business with a key responsibility for ensuring and maintaining sustainable growth.

Reporting to the CEO, the role is to build a fit for growth finance function for the company without diluting innovation and flair. The remit is to develop a cohesive MI and financial reporting function that gives timely, accurate and commercially focused support to the management team and the Board, whilst controlling cash, costs, pricing and margin, etc. (and, critically, optimising the recent VCT investment into the company and identifying the future funding needs of the business). The requirement is to be the CEO’s foil, to support his decision-making with critical analysis, to liaise with the investor, advisers and bankers and to evaluate and enumerate business plans as well as major business opportunities, etc. The responsibility is to maximise returns, de-risk the business from a financial stability/commercial trading perspective without stifling opportunity.

Technical capability is a given - commercial acumen is the key. It is likely that you are a proven Commercial Finance Director. You understand the OMB dynamics, and are excited by the thrill of commercial success, but in a controlled enterprising way. You set, but can re-prioritise, a disciplined financial agenda i.e. you ensure that the annual budget is owned by the Directors and performance monitor the outputs to measure and control the results. You understand the time-value of money, cash, capital profit/margin, yield and return. You are not precious about computer systems, but are about the accuracy and meaningfulness that comes from them. You are proactive and incisive and want to be part of an organisation that makes a real difference to people’s lives.
